A Texas daycare worker faced serious allegations this week, leading to her arrest for allegedly kicking and harming several toddlers at her facility. Catherine Guziejka, who worked at Punkin' Doodle Day Care located in Lindale, Texas, is accused of kicking six children more than 130 times over the course of three months earlier this year.
Reports indicate she was taken to custody on six counts of injury to a child. The Smith County Sheriff's Office is currently reviewing video footage from surveillance cameras within the daycare to gather more evidence. The distressing situation came to light when another employee at the daycare noticed suspicious activity captured on camera and alerted one of the parents of the affected children.
According to authorities, the evidence clearly shows Guziejka's actions to be "random, intentional, unprovoked, and violent" aimed explicitly at inflicting pain. It appears she targeted children who were doing nothing at the time of the attacks; one incident involved her kicking a child who was simply sitting and watching TV.
The allegations do not end there. Guziejka also reportedly stood on the hands of children as punishment and was seen dragging napping toddlers by their arms to the changing table. Incidents of aggression did not stop with kicking; she also allegedly handled the children roughly when placing them on the changing table.
Once the daycare owner learned about Guziejka's actions, she acted swiftly to terminate her employment. The daycare has since changed ownership following the unfortunate events.
This disturbing case sheds light on the importance of vigilance within childcare facilities. Parents depend on daycare workers to provide safe and nurturing environments for their children, and breaches of trust like this raise serious concerns.
Consequently, the Smith County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation to ascertain the full scope of Guziejka's actions. Ensuring child safety will remain the priority as authorities seek to address these alarming allegations.
