Telemadrid Launches Historic Coverage Of San Isidro Fair

The network broadcasts all 28 bullfighting events live for the first time, starting today.

Telemadrid has launched a historic coverage of the San Isidro Fair 2025, broadcasting all 28 events live from the iconic Las Ventas bullring. This unprecedented initiative began on May 9, 2025, and will run until June 15, 2025, allowing viewers to experience the excitement of one of the most important bullfighting festivals in the world.

The San Isidro Fair, a hallmark of Spanish culture, is set to captivate audiences every afternoon at 19:00 (7 PM) on Telemadrid and through its digital platform at www.telemadrid.es, ensuring both national and international reach. This year’s opening event features renowned bullfighters Talavante, Juan Ortega, and Clemente, who will be confirming his alternative during this inaugural fight.

For the first bullfight, six bulls from Victoriano del Río and Toros de Cortés have been drawn, with the standout being the first bull, number 11, named FORAJIDO. This bull, weighing in at 585 kg, was born in October 2019. The lineup also includes number 73, BOCHORNOSO, weighing 594 kg and born in November 2020; number 63, CANGREJERO, weighing 565 kg and born in September 2020; number 18, MISTERIO, weighing 568 kg and born in November 2019; number 189, EBANISTA, weighing 640 kg and born in March 2020; and number 185, SOLEARES, weighing 560 kg and born in August 2019.

The event has already garnered significant attention, with tickets selling out quickly, marking a successful start for Telemadrid’s broadcast initiative. The network has made a bold move by airing the San Isidro Fair in its entirety, a departure from previous years when the festival was relegated to private operators.

Leading the broadcast team is journalist Sixto Naranjo, who will be joined by fellow commentator Federico Arnás, the bullfighter Luis Miguel Encabo, and David Jaramillo providing insights from the sidelines. This expert team promises a rigorous and engaging commentary that will enhance the viewing experience.

Telemadrid is not stopping at just the bullfights. The network has planned a comprehensive programming schedule that includes live news broadcasts from Las Ventas. On the very first day of the fair, the evening news programs Telenoticias 1 and 2 will air live from the bullring, continuing to cover the event daily throughout the festival.

Additionally, the morning show Buenos Días, Madrid will feature interviews related to the festival, including a notable conversation with Carlos Novillo, the Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior of the Community of Madrid, who is also the president of the Council of the Center for Bullfighting Affairs.

For those who prefer radio, Onda Madrid will also join in the festivities, presenting “Las Tertulias del Toril” from Monday to Friday between 13:00 and 14:00. This program will be broadcast live from the bullring and will feature discussions, interviews, and analysis related to the bullfighting events.

This extensive coverage reflects Telemadrid’s commitment to bringing the cultural significance of bullfighting to a broader audience, especially in a time when access to such events has been limited due to the withdrawal of private broadcasters like OneToro, which previously aired major events.

In a statement, Telemadrid emphasized that this initiative is more than just a broadcast; it is a celebration of Spanish culture and tradition. The network aims to make the San Isidro Fair accessible to all, fostering a renewed interest in bullfighting and its cultural heritage.

As the San Isidro Fair unfolds, viewers can expect not only thrilling bullfighting but also a vibrant atmosphere filled with the sounds of the crowd, the artistry of the matadors, and the rich history that surrounds this iconic event. With Telemadrid at the helm, the festival is set to reach new heights, captivating audiences both in Spain and around the globe.

As the first day of the fair kicks off, anticipation is high for what is sure to be an exhilarating season of bullfighting. With a stellar lineup of bulls and a team of experienced commentators, Telemadrid is poised to deliver an unforgettable viewing experience. The San Isidro Fair is not just a series of events; it is a cultural phenomenon that showcases the passion and tradition of bullfighting, and this year, it will be more accessible than ever.
