TCU Announces 60 New Job Openings In Brasília

The Tribunal de Contas da União opens positions for auditors and technicians amid staffing shortages.

The Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) has officially authorized a new public contest, offering a total of 60 immediate vacancies for the positions of federal auditor of external control and federal technician of external control in Brasília, Distrito Federal. The announcement came on May 5, 2025, through a publication in the Diário Oficial da União (DOU), sparking significant interest among job seekers and appearing among the top searches on Google Trends.

Out of the 60 vacancies, 20 are designated for the role of federal auditor of external control (AUFC), while the remaining 40 are for federal technician of external control (TFCE). In addition to these immediate positions, there will also be opportunities for the formation of a reserve register for both roles, allowing for potential future hiring as needs arise.

To qualify for these positions, candidates must meet specific educational requirements. The position of federal technician of external control requires a high school diploma, whereas the role of federal auditor necessitates a higher education degree relevant to the desired specialty. Given the attractive salary packages associated with these positions, competition is expected to be fierce.

The initial salary for a federal technician of external control is set at R$ 15,128.26, which includes a basic salary along with performance bonuses and external control bonuses. The breakdown of the compensation is as follows: R$ 5,697.83 as the basic salary, R$ 6,569.63 as the performance bonus, and R$ 2,791.95 as the external control bonus. Meanwhile, federal auditors can expect to start with an impressive salary of R$ 26,090.16, which comprises R$ 7,912.43 as the basic salary, R$ 10,107.06 in performance bonuses, and R$ 8,070.67 in external control bonuses. According to reports, salaries for auditors can reach as high as R$ 37,465.00 depending on experience and performance.

In addition to the base salaries, TCU employees are entitled to several benefits that enhance their overall compensation. These include a preschool assistance allowance of R$ 1,083.92, food assistance worth R$ 1,784.42, medical and dental assistance of R$ 807.00, periodic exams valued at R$ 141.59, and transportation assistance amounting to R$ 2,280.65. These benefits significantly increase the total remuneration for successful candidates.

While the announcement has generated excitement, details regarding the rules and schedule for the contest are still pending. The TCU has not yet released a date for the publication of the contest notice, although there is typically a six-month deadline for such announcements. This means that prospective candidates will need to remain patient as the TCU finalizes the necessary arrangements, including selecting the organizing committee for the examination.

It is worth noting that the TCU currently faces a significant deficit in staffing, with a reported shortage of 526 positions within the auditor and technician roles. This shortage highlights the urgent need for new hires, particularly for the federal technician of external control role, which has 382 vacancies available. The new contest is seen as a vital step in addressing this gap and ensuring that the TCU can effectively fulfill its oversight responsibilities.

As the TCU prepares for this contest, many are keenly awaiting the release of the official guidelines and schedule. The interest in these positions reflects the growing demand for stable and rewarding careers in public service, especially in roles that play a critical part in maintaining transparency and accountability within government operations.

In conclusion, the recent authorization for a new public contest at the TCU represents a significant opportunity for job seekers in Brazil. With attractive salaries, extensive benefits, and a pressing need for qualified personnel, the contest is expected to draw a large number of applicants eager to secure a position in this reputable institution.
