Tatarstan Residents Enjoy 13 Days Off In May 2025

The holiday schedule includes two long weekends and several regular days off throughout the month.

Residents of Tatarstan are gearing up for an extended break in May 2025, with a total of 13 days off, marking an increase of two days compared to the previous year. This year’s holiday schedule is particularly generous, allowing for ample time to relax and celebrate.

The month kicks off with four consecutive days off from May 1 to May 4, coinciding with the celebration of Spring and Labor Day on May 1. Additionally, a day off that was originally scheduled for January 4 has been moved to May 2, creating a long weekend. Following this, the regular weekend days of May 3 and May 4 will ensure that workers enjoy a significant break right at the start of the month.

After this initial stretch of relaxation, the workweek will resume briefly with just three working days—May 5, 6, and 7—before another series of holidays begins. From May 8 to May 11, Tatarstan residents can again enjoy four consecutive days off. This second holiday period includes May 8, which has been designated as a day off in lieu of the February 23 holiday, followed by Victory Day on May 9. The weekend will continue with the usual Saturday and Sunday on May 10 and 11.

It’s important to note that May 7 will not be a shortened working day, as it precedes a holiday rather than a weekend. For those who are required to work during these public holidays, compensation will be provided in the form of double pay or an additional day off.

In addition to the major holidays, Tatarstan residents will also have regular weekends throughout May, including May 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31, which fall on Saturdays and Sundays.

For those looking to maximize their time off, it is possible to extend the May holidays to 11 consecutive days by taking a short vacation from May 5 to May 7. However, despite the allure of long weekends, experts suggest that taking a vacation in May may not be the most advantageous choice due to the limited number of working days. Instead, planning vacations for July or October in 2025 may yield better results.

Across Russia, the trend of extended holidays in early May is also evident. Traditionally, Russians look forward to these long weekends, which are closely tied to the celebrations of May Day and Victory Day. In 2025, the Spring and Labor Day on May 1 will fall on a Thursday, with May 2 also designated as a day off because of the transfer of a holiday from January 4.

This arrangement means that workers will experience a short workweek at the end of April, working only from Monday to Wednesday (April 28 to 30) before enjoying four days off from May 1 to May 4. Following this, Victory Day on May 9 will fall on a Friday, with May 8 also being a day off due to the rescheduling of the February 23 holiday.

Thus, the second long weekend will span from May 8 to May 11. This schedule means that those working a five-day week in Russia will also have 13 days off throughout May 2025:

  • May 1 to May 4 (Thursday to Sunday);
  • May 8 to May 11 (Thursday to Sunday);
  • May 17 and 18 (Saturday and Sunday);
  • May 24 and 25 (Saturday and Sunday);
  • May 31 (Saturday).

Looking at the broader picture, the production calendar for 2025 includes numerous holidays, such as the New Year and Christmas from January 1 to 8, Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 22 and 23, International Women's Day on March 8 and 9, and Russia Day from June 12 to 15. The National Unity Day will also be observed from November 2 to 4, rounding out a year filled with festive breaks.

Overall, the holiday schedule in Tatarstan and across Russia in May 2025 promises to provide residents with ample opportunities for rest and celebration, making it a month to look forward to.
