Tasha Ghouri's Unique Advantage Shines Ahead Of Strictly's Blackpool Performance

Love Island star prepares for challenges and opportunities with her cochlear implant during iconic ballroom showcase

The dazzling world of Strictly Come Dancing is buzzing with excitement as Tasha Ghouri gears up for her performance at the iconic Blackpool Ballroom. The Love Island star, who has garnered much attention for her talent and perseverance, recently discussed how her upcoming appearance will pose unique challenges and advantages due to her cochlear implant.

On It Takes Two, hosted by Fleur East, Tasha opened up about the potential hurdles she faces when transitioning from the snug soundproof studio to the vast, echoey ballroom. "Definitely, because in the studio it’s soundproof, it’s so intimate, it’s small. So, in the Tower Ballroom, it’s going to be a whole different sound," she explained.

Noticing the excitement of the expansive venue, Tasha said, “It’s going to be echoey, so it’s going to be something I need to get used to. I don’t have much time to get used to it either.” The ballroom’s rich environment is renowned for its atmosphere, but it also means Tasha will have to adapt quickly to the acoustics.

Despite these concerns, Tasha pointed out the silver lining to this situation. She mentioned, "It is definitely going to be more echoey, but the advantage is I will feel it more in my body because it’s much more vibrations. More ofthat runs through my body, so if anything, it could actually be more of an advantage!" This insight resonates with many who appreciate the nuances of sensory experiences.

Leading up to the performance, Tasha, paired with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, has been working diligently on their routine. Aljaž is equally enthusiastic about their upcoming Paso Doble performance to the tune of Nathan Lanier's "Torn." His excitement was palpable as he discussed incorporating every iconic element of the dance. "I started Strictly in 2013, I have tried to do a Blackpool Paso Doble for... you can do the math," he said, sparkling with anticipation.

The couple has already dazzled the judges, obtaining top scores at this stage of the competition. They currently share the top of the leaderboard with JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, each securing 37 points for their performances. Tasha’s move to the top is particularly notable, especially after the departure of her previous partner, Amy Dowden, who had to leave the competition to focus on her recovery from injury.

Aljaž expressed his enthusiasm to perform with extra dancers, saying, “I am ecstatic, honestly; all I can say is, Órale!” Their choreography not only aims to captivate the audience but also highlights how dancers with unique backgrounds can thrive on such platforms.

Reflecting on the social media buzz and public speculation surrounding their dynamic, Tasha’s adaptability and determination shine through, allowing fans to rally around her. Her disability, often viewed as a limitation, transforms within the dance arena, showcasing courage and talent. Upon discussing the feedback from judges, Tasha expressed her satisfaction with their performance, hinting at the unwavering support her partner has provided throughout the competition.

Last weekend’s show also witnessed the emotional exit of Shayne Ward and his partner Nancy Xu, signaling yet another dramatic turn of event as head judge Shirley Ballas chose to favor Wynne Evans during the gripping dance-off.

Colleagues and fans alike have come together to support one another, as the world of competitive dancing can be both exhilarating and challenging. With fellow contestants voicing their admiration for one another, the camaraderie behind the scenes contributes to the show’s emotional depth.

Hosting It Takes Two, Fleur East has been instrumental in keeping the momentum positive, adeptly steering conversations toward the triumphs and tribulations of the dancers, particularly Tasha’s strong message about living life to the fullest, regardless of physical setbacks. "It’s all about celebrating every moment we have,” she reiterated during the live show.

With Blackpool serving as the ultimate landmark for Strictly Come Dancing, the anticipation is palpable as viewers gear up for another weekend of performances filled with breathtaking moves, heartfelt stories, and unique displays of talent. Tasha's brave approach to embracing her cochlear implant’s capabilities is inspiring and characterizes the spirit of this magnificent dance competition.

Fans across the nation are now readying themselves for Tasha’s performance, eager to witness the fusion of talent, enthusiasm, and powerful storytelling embodied within the dance routines. Following the live broadcasts, the buzz from the crowds at Blackpool will undoubtedly echo long after the last dance of the evening has been performed, and the audience has exited the splendid ballroom floor.
