Manoj, son of the celebrated director Bharathiraja, had undergone bypass surgery a few days prior and had been recuperating when he suffered the heart attack around 4 p.m. local time.
Manoj is survived by his wife Ashwathi, affectionately known as Nandana, and their two daughters, Arshitha and Mathivathani.
