Taka And Hashimoto Share Surprising Secrets Of Their Marriage

On live TV, the couple discusses humor and harmony, including Taka’s past relationships.

On March 4, 2025, comedian Gadarukanaru Taka, 68, and his wife, talent Hashimoto Chiaki, 57, appeared live on Fuji TV's 'Pokapoka' (Mondays to Fridays 11:50 AM). The couple opened up about their lives and marriage, sharing surprising and humorous insights during the show.

Taka's unexpected past was revealed when the show’s MC, Kamata Aika, asked Hashimoto if she had ever found something of her husband's she wasn't supposed to. Hashimoto candidly recounted her experience of discovering large women's clothing during her early days of dating Taka, who is also known for his comedic style. She initially found it puzzling until she did some online research and learned the clothing belonged to Taka's persona for the 'Himako' character, which was unexpected news to her.

Hashimoto also shared another surprising anecdote about Taka’s romantic history, which left him visibly flustered. “It seems my husband dated this woman from some group right up until just before we got married,” she said, raising eyebrows among the studio audience. Taka, attempting to diffuse the situation, responded nervously, “What are you talking about? This is live TV!” as warnings flew around the studio, encouraging him to find out more.

“We even went on trips together to the hot springs, and I recall seeing photo books, CDs, and even fashionable dresses she had,” Hashimoto continued, reliving those memories with amusing nostalgia, eliciting gasps from the audience. Taka, clearly uncomfortable, wondered if discussing such topics was appropriate for lunchtime television, expressing his dismay about the live examination of his past.

Despite Taka's evident unease, Hashimoto concluded the interaction on a light note, expressing relief when Taka claimed he had thrown away all memorabilia from his prior relationship. “He said it was okay to sell these items since she left them behind, so I actually sold them on Mercari! Since he is famous, they sold well!” she laughed, bringing joy to the discussion.

Throughout the segment, they also shared the secrets to their seemingly harmonious marriage. When asked by the MC about the principles of their long-lasting relationship, Taka raised a triangular paddle and Hashimoto brandished a round one, indicating different perspectives. Hashimoto mentioned her strategy of maintaining peace: “I avoid stepping on my husband’s toes. Even if he gets home late, I never say, ‘You’re late,’ and pretend to be asleep when I hear him come home.”

This lighthearted chemistry between the couple also revealed their individual philosophies. Reflecting on their relationship, Hashimoto stated, “I don’t feel like I married someone who isn’t popular. Seeing him get attention and affection from women at bars makes me genuinely happy,” demonstrating her supportive nature.

Yet, Taka faltered when asked about special occasions. Kamata asked Hashimoto if her husband had ever celebrated her birthday or their anniversaries, to which she revealed, to everyone's shock, “Not even once!” The studio reacted with astonishment, prompting Taka to defend his lack of celebration, jokingly claiming he is unsure how to properly handle such occasions.

Adding to the humor, Hashimoto pointed out, “I don’t even have my wedding ring,” showing her empty fingers to the audience. Taka attempted to explain this by recalling how he quickly bought one, albeit unfit, before meeting her family. The studio shared laughter at this comical admission, highlighting their relatable moments and candid affection for one another.

The pair's dynamic also demonstrated Taka's approach to conflict resolution. “If anything goes wrong, I instinctively apologize, thinking it’s my fault,” he stated, though Hashimoto playfully rolled her eyes and remarked, “He may think he is apologizing, but it doesn’t often reach me.”

This charming interaction on live television showcased the couple's genuine connection, rooted both in love and laughter, offering viewers insight not only about their romantic life but also about the realities of living together as long-time partners.

Overall, their segment on Fuji TV highlighted how humor can be integral to preserving relationships. The humor, candid revelations, and easy laughter brought warmth to their anecdotes, reminding audiences of the beauty of companionship, even with its quirks.
