Taiko Satsuki, the 22-year-old member of the popular boy group KEY TO LIT, has officially suspended his performance in the stage play "Dad Shoes 2025" due to a knee injury. This announcement was made on March 12, 2025, with the production committee confirming the cancellation of all performances from March 13, 2025, onwards.
According to the official website, Satsuki injured his right knee during one of the performances and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus following medical examinations. The committee noted, "Taiko Satsuki (KEY TO LIT) starring in LEGEND STAGE PRODUCE 'Dad Shoes 2025' has been diagnosed with 'torn meniscus' after medical examination." This diagnosis was pivotal for the decision to halt his appearances, emphasizing the need to prioritize Satsuki's health.
The production committee stated, "We have decided to suspend his appearance to prioritize his well-being," highlighting the consensus reached after discussions between Satsuki, his agency, and the committee. Despite Satsuki's desire to continue performing, it was determined he would not recover sufficiently to take the stage. "He wished to continue performing, but the decision was made due to the pain and swelling," they explained.
All performances scheduled at Tokyo's Hulic Hall from March 13 to March 17, 2025, and those at COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA WW Hall on March 22 and 23, 2025, have been cancelled. The production has promised updates on ticket refunds, which will be announced through official channels.
Upon announcing the cancellation, Satsuki expressed his deep regret for the disappointment it caused. He conveyed through the official site, "I sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the performances," indicating his commitment to rehabilitation. He plans to focus on recovery to return to the stage as soon as possible, stating, "Satsuki will work diligently on treatment and rehabilitation."
"Dad Shoes 2025" is not just any stage production; it showcases the story of Sho Wakaki, portrayed by Satsuki, who once abandoned his dream of becoming a dancer only to rediscover his passion through the help of magical shoes. Scripted and directed by Kazuhito Yoneyama, this play had drawn significant attention and excitement from fans and theatergoers alike.
Since the group KEY TO LIT was formed from the reorganization of junior groups, the stage play was highly anticipated among fans. The dynamic among the group members has garnered admiration, making this unfortunate development even more poignant.
Fans have expressed their support for Satsuki during this challenging time, with many leaving encouraging messages on social media. The disappointment over the cancellations, though palpable, is coupled with hopes for his swift recovery. Satsuki's health is of utmost importance, and the decision to halt performances shows the production's commitment to the well-being of its cast members.
Looking to the future, Satsuki remains hopeful about his return, making it clear he wishes to showcase his vibrant and energetic self once again on stage, once fully recovered. He reassured fans of his dedication to recovery and expressed gratitude for their unwavering support throughout his career.
At this juncture, the production committee and Satsuki aim to keep the audience informed, ensuring transparency during these difficult changes. Updates concerning the finalization of ticket refunds will be shared on official platforms, allowing fans to stay connected with the production, even amid these unplanned interruptions.
