Switzerland Launches Support Program For Kyrgyz Textile Industry

The Textileration initiative aims to empower local businesses with training and market access.

On February 10, 2023, Switzerland launched the "Textileration" program, aimed at bolstering the textile industry in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative, reported by the Swiss Embassy, garnered significant attention with approximately 170 applications, leading to the selection of 22 promising businesses.

The Textileration program is structured to provide participants with intensive training, personalized mentorship, and invaluable tools to access new markets. Participants will also work alongside industry experts, focus on refining their business models, and explore new sales channels. These elements are intended to uplift product quality and strengthen competitiveness on international markets.

Renaud Vuillez, the head of economic development and governance at the Swiss Embassy, emphasized the program's significance, stating, "Support for the textile business is an investment in the sustainable development of the economy of the country. We are pleased to see such high interest in the program and are confident this accelerator will help entrepreneurs open new opportunities, increase production efficiency, and enter international markets." His insights reflect the broader ambitions for the textile sector, which plays a pivotal role in Kyrgyzstan's economy by contributing to export and job creation.

Aizhan Alisherova, head of the acceleration and technical support programs, underscored the program’s comprehensive nature, declaring, "Textileration is not just an acceleration program, but a complete support ecosystem. We strive to help sewing enterprises not only master modern technologies but also create strong brands capable of attracting new clients and partners. The great interest from the business side proves the Kyrgyz textile industry is ready for innovation and growth." Alisherova’s vision aligns with the global trends where local brands embrace innovation to thrive.

The initiative signifies more than just support but marks the creation of new local brands within Kyrgyzstan's textile sector. By enhancing the skillsets and capacities of local entrepreneurs, the program seeks to link fabricators with global opportunities, thereby paving the path toward sustainable economic development.

The Swiss government is financially backing the Textileration program, which is being executed by the accelerator Accelerate Prosperity. This partnership aims to increase local producers' capabilities to meet international market standards.

The textile industry stands as one of the key sectors for Kyrgyzstan's economy, contributing significantly to both exports and employment generation. With programs like Textileration, the country is positioning itself to leverage its textile potential more efficiently. The expectation is for participating companies not only to grow but to become influential players on the international stage.

Overall, the launch of Textileration embodies Switzerland’s commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainable development through targeted investment initiatives, emphasizing the importance of the textile industry as it navigates through modern challenges and opportunities.
