Jonsson noted that a significant portion of international military support is facilitated through multilateral initiatives and coalitions, particularly within the framework of the Contact Group on Ukraine Defense. As part of this latest aid package, Sweden's Military Supply Agency (FMV) has been tasked with assessing the defense industry's capacity to produce equipment with delivery timelines ranging from zero to 24 months. This proactive measure is designed to enhance Sweden's ability to respond quickly to Ukraine's needs.
The aid package also includes materials from the Swedish Armed Forces and spare parts for previously provided assistance, valued at around 93 million dollars. This includes m/58 mortars, ammunition, and approximately 100 vehicles for servicing airbases.
Furthermore, the Swedish government is implementing guarantees for defense exports to facilitate purchases that support Ukraine, allocating 46 million dollars for this purpose. This initiative aims to encourage more companies to contribute to Ukraine's defense efforts by providing necessary materials alongside purchases made by the FMV.
In a bid to foster innovation, the FMV has been directed to identify, test, and fund military solutions from smaller technology companies that may be essential for military purposes in Ukraine.
