A suspicious death investigation is underway in Moss, Norway, following the discovery of a 34-year-old man's body on the first day of Christmas. Authorities have been alerted by local residents about disturbances at the scene, prompting police action.
The police received reports of noise and fighting from the apartment late on Christmas Eve, leading them to arrive at the residence on December 25. According to Linda Tengesdal, the jurist from Øst politidistrikt, the police quickly initiated tactical and technical investigations once they were alerted to the suspicious nature of the death.
Reports indicate disturbances, with several eyewitnesses mentioning the presence of noise and altercations during what was said to be a party at the residence. One witness recounted hearing clashing voices, stating, "I heard noise from the apartment last night. There was clearly a party going on, and I heard fighting. Then it quieted down before it escalated again," as reported by VG.
Despite the initial suspicious circumstances, there have been developments leading police to explore multiple hypotheses. Speaking to VG, police lawyer Anders Svarholt commented on the investigation, stating, "The information received through interviews and findings at the scene leads us to conclude the theory of murder has been significantly weakened." He elaborated on different possible scenarios, including self-inflicted injuries or unfortunate accidents.
While no arrests have been made, police are focusing on building a detailed timeline of events leading up to the man's death. Police have been methodically interviewing people who may have been on the premises and checking the living conditions within the apartment.
