On December 22, 2024, the Disabled People Association and the Orphans Association launched the program "Chung tay ủng hộ trợ giúp người khuyết tật và trẻ mồ côi" in Thua Thien Hue, aiming to support persons with disabilities and orphans through educational scholarships, vocational training, and financial aid.
This initiative, run by the National Disabled People Association, the Vietnam Youth Association of Persons with Disabilities, and VTC Corporation, is set to continue from December 13, 2024, until February 28, 2025. The program seeks to bring joy and opportunities to children during the Tet holiday, creating pathways to improve their living conditions.
Mr. Đinh Mẫn, President of the Disabled People Association and Orphans Association, expressed the significance of these donations, stating, "...the effort to support those who are struggling can bring joy, especially during the Tet holiday." He emphasized the collective impact of small contributions—whether 10,000 or 30,000 VND (about 1 to 2 USD)—can significantly change lives for the worse off.
People wishing to contribute can do so through various channels, including transferring funds to the designated bank account or accessing humanitarian websites such as 1400.vn, utilizing QR codes for direct donations to the initiative. Mr. Mẫn noted, "Small donations can significantly impact the lives of people with disabilities and orphans," and highlighted the importance of these funds for providing vocational training and scholarships.
The program also recognizes the commitment of outstanding individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exemplary support throughout the year. During the launch event, awards were conferred to two organizations and three individuals for their outstanding contributions, fostering an encouraging environment for volunteers and sponsors to join the cause.
Throughout this initiative, the Disabled People Association and Orphans Association aim to not only address immediate needs but also open up opportunities for skills development and employment. Mr. Mẫn reiterated, "We want to create job opportunities and help these children develop skills for their future." This multi-faceted approach is pivotal for the continued growth and integration of these marginalized groups within society.
The campaign encourages community involvement, emphasizing the role of local participants who can help spread awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities and orphans. By working together and pooling resources, the campaign fosters solidarity and spreads hope among vulnerable populations.
The launch of the program has already started to reverberate positivity within the community, setting the stage for widespread participation and support especially as the Tet holiday approaches. With numerous events and appeals planned, the initiative aims to uplift the spirits of those who need it most, reinforcing the importance of collective action and empathy.
Overall, the "Chung tay ủng hộ trợ giúp người khuyết tật và trẻ mồ côi" program aligns with national efforts to promote inclusivity and provide systemic support for marginalized individuals across Vietnam. It demonstrates the nation's commitment to addressing socio-economic disparities, particularly during festive seasons when the needs of the less fortunate are most pronounced.
