The assault on al-Fashir has exacerbated already starved communities. Independent observers have voiced concerns over humanitarian access getting severely stifled, with parties allegedly deploying starvation attacks as weapons of war. Grandi lamented how interests surrounding the crisis have been overshadowed by other global conflicts, leaving Darfur's humanitarian needs unaddressed.
