Stuttgart Frühlingsfest 2025: Beer Prices Soar Amid Festivities

The annual festival kicks off with rising beer costs and new attractions, promising excitement and community spirit.

As the vibrant atmosphere of the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest approaches, excitement builds among locals and visitors alike. The festival, set to run from April 19 to May 11, 2025, at the Cannstatter Wasen, promises a mix of traditional festivities and thrilling rides. However, one topic is already stirring conversations: the rising cost of beer.

This year, the price of a Maß (liter of beer) will range from 14.10 to 14.40 Euros, a slight increase from last year's prices. In the "Göckelesmaier" tent, revelers will pay 14.40 Euros for a Maß, plus a service fee of 1.10 Euros, bringing the total to 15.50 Euros. The same price applies at the new "Beim Benz" tent, which has replaced the former "Grandls Festzelt." This price hike is being attributed to several factors, including rising labor costs and increased energy prices, as highlighted by local vendors.

For those looking to enjoy the festivities without breaking the bank, there are savings opportunities available. Each Monday during the festival, from April 21 to May 5, visitors can snag a Maß for just 9.80 Euros starting at noon at the "Göckelesmaier" tent. Similarly, the "Benz Deal" at the "Beim Benz" tent offers a Maß for 10 Euros from Sunday to Wednesday, excluding public holidays, though a 1 Euro service fee applies.

The festival kicks off with the traditional keg tapping at 11:30 AM on April 19, led by the "Wasen-Bürgermeister" Thomas Fuhrmann. This year marks the 85th edition of the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest, which aims to attract even more than the 1.4 million visitors counted last year. With 240 showmen, hosts, and market traders expected, the festival promises a lively atmosphere filled with food, music, and entertainment.

New attractions this year include the "V-Maxx," a high-ride that offers thrilling aerial flips, and the "Booster" carousel, known for its surprising lateral spins. Families can enjoy the "Super Rutsche" and classic rides like the "Wilde Maus" roller coaster and the "Fortress Tower" free-fall ride. Additionally, 14 shooting booths and 17 tossing booths will provide plenty of opportunities for fun.

Safety measures have been heightened following last year's incidents, which saw over 800 visitors report illnesses linked to foodborne pathogens. This year, more stringent hygiene protocols will be implemented, including increased inspections and additional cleaning staff to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

Parking options are available for those driving to the festival, with a daily rate of 8 Euros for cars, 16 Euros for coaches, and 2 Euros for motorcycles. The Cannstatter Wasen is easily accessible via public transport, with the U19 tram running directly to the festival grounds. The U11 tram will also operate on weekends for added convenience.

For families, visiting on designated family days—April 23, April 30, and May 7—can yield significant savings, as many vendors will offer discounts, and entertainment such as stilt walkers and balloon artists will be present.

As the festival gears up, the SWR Studio Stuttgart will provide a live blog covering the event, starting from the keg tapping on April 19. With the promise of good food, lively entertainment, and a vibrant community spirit, the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest 2025 is set to be an unforgettable celebration.
