Students Return Lost Wallet, Owners Grateful For Honesty

Two uplifting stories highlight integrity and community spirit in Vietnam.

In a heartwarming display of integrity, three sixth-grade students from Tran Cao Van Middle School in Hue City made headlines after they found a lost wallet containing a significant sum of money and promptly returned it to its owner. The incident took place on the afternoon of April 10, 2025, as the students were walking home from school along Le Huan Street in the Thuan Hoa ward of Phu Xuan district.

While strolling, the trio stumbled upon a brown leather wallet lying on the side of the road. Upon inspecting its contents, they discovered over 5 million VND along with important documents, including a citizen ID card and a driver's license. Understanding the importance of the items, the students did not hesitate to report their find to the local police.

The Thuan Hoa Ward Police quickly took action, confirming the identity of the wallet's owner, Mr. Nguyen Van Nho, who also resides in the same ward. They invited Mr. Nho to the police station to reclaim his lost belongings. The timely intervention of the students and the police ensured that Mr. Nho received his money and personal documents back intact.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Nho wrote a thank-you letter to both the students and the police, acknowledging their honesty and dedication. This incident not only highlights the moral values instilled in the young students but also underscores the importance of community cooperation in upholding ethical standards.

Meanwhile, on April 11, 2025, a separate but equally uplifting event unfolded in Hai Phong. The owner of a stack of money worth 35 million VND, which had been lost just two days prior, was successfully reunited with his cash. The discovery occurred around 10:45 AM on April 9, when an officer from the Anh Dung Ward Police stumbled upon the money while on duty.

As the officer was walking along the sidewalk near 2 Le Dai Hanh Street, he noticed a stack of 500,000 VND bills. Recognizing the potential distress of the owner, the police department promptly issued a public notice to locate the rightful owner of the lost money.

On the afternoon of April 11, the owners, Mr. T.X.L, born in 1972, and Mrs. P.T.L, born in 1976, from Hai Son ward in Do Son district, came forward to claim their lost cash. Mr. T.X.L recounted that he had misplaced the money around 10:30 AM on April 9 while in the vicinity of Le Dai Hanh Street in Hong Bang.

When the couple arrived at the police station, they were overwhelmed with relief and gratitude. The returned property consisted of 70 bills, each valued at 500,000 VND, summing up to a total of 35 million VND. Upon receiving the money, Mr. T.X.L expressed his heartfelt appreciation towards the Anh Dung Ward Police and the broader police force of Hai Phong, commending them for their diligent work and commitment to the community.

These two incidents serve as a reminder of the good that exists within society. They illustrate how acts of honesty and integrity can have a profound impact on individuals and communities alike. In a world where negative news often dominates headlines, stories like these restore faith in human kindness and the importance of doing the right thing.

Moreover, they highlight the vital role of local law enforcement in facilitating these positive outcomes. The quick response and professionalism of the police officers involved in both cases not only helped return lost items but also fostered a sense of trust and cooperation between the community and law enforcement.

Through their actions, the students and the police have set an exemplary standard for others to follow. Their commitment to honesty and integrity is a beacon of hope, encouraging others to act similarly when faced with similar situations. In a time when moral dilemmas are common, these stories remind us that integrity and compassion can prevail.

As these narratives circulate, they not only warm hearts but also inspire others to emulate such noble behavior. The students of Tran Cao Van Middle School and the officers of Anh Dung Ward Police have proven that even small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful change and foster a stronger, more connected community.
