Students Protest At Tec Milenio Over Alleged Sexual Abuse

Students demand justice for classmate following alleged rape incident and school’s actions.

Students at Tec Milenio Campus Las Torres found themselves embroiled in protests on March 14, 2025, demanding justice for their classmate Adrián, who allegedly fell victim to sexual assault by five peers days prior. The accusations and subsequent fallout have created significant unrest within the educational institution.

According to reports, the incident is said to have occurred on the afternoon of March 11, 2025, inside one of the school's bathrooms. The victim, known affectionately as ‘Rudy’, is just 16 years old and has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Eyewitness accounts reveal he was attacked by at least five classmates, with one student, Leonardo, identified as the primary aggressor.

The aftermath of the alleged assault shocked the school community, particularly because reports indicate the school took punitive action against Adrián instead of the accused. Following the incident, school officials reportedly suspended him for three days. This was due to him defending himself during the attack, which involved him hitting one of his aggressors, leading to widespread outrage among the students.

On March 14, students staged protests inside the campus, equipped with posters bearing messages demanding justice for Rudy and shouting slogans calling for accountability from school authorities. Videos and photos from the protest highlight the emotional engagement of the student body, as students rallied around their classmate, expressing solidarity and frustration alike.

"Queremos justicia para Rudy," students can be heard chanting, emphasizing their demand for the administration to take the matter seriously and protect the victims rather than the alleged aggressors. Reports reveal these demonstrations garnered significant attention, not only among peers but also from the wider community and media outlets.

While students protested, representatives from the State Investigation Agency attempted to access the campus to investigate the claims. Unfortunately, it is reported they were denied entry, supposedly on the instruction of the school director, which frustrated many students and parents concerned about the handling of the situation.

The school issued a statement during the protests, explaining they would switch to virtual classes to safeguard the well-being of the student body. Their communication noted, "Starting at 11:00 AM on March 14, classes and academic activities will be carried out virtually. This decision has been made to secure the well-being and safety of our entire community, which has always been and will continue to be our priority." They stated classes would proceed through established online platforms, requesting students to remain vigilant for any new information.

Members of the Tec Milenio community are increasingly vocal, demanding transparency and justice, as reports suggest the accused students continued attending classes without any disciplinary action being taken against them. This lack of accountability has drawn sharp criticism from current students and alumni alike.

The situation surrounding this protest reflects broader issues pertaining to how educational institutions manage allegations of violence and abuse, particularly when the victim reports reveal systemic failures and potential misconduct. The demands of the students echo the sentiment of communities nationwide, seeking justice and fair treatment for victims of abuse.

Adrián’s case remains under investigation by authorities. Many hope the school's actions going forward will show solidarity with victims rather than giving preferential treatment to the accused. The protests at Tec Milenio have shone a spotlight on the urgent need for reform and more substantial measures to safeguard students within educational environments.

With the community rallying behind Adrián, questions loom over what significant steps will be taken to address not only this incident but broader policies surrounding student well-being and how institutions respond to such serious allegations. The collective voices of the Tec Milenio students have made it clear their demand for justice will not quiet down, as they seek accountability for their classmate and for their values to be reflected by the institution they attend.
