Stora Enso Launches New EUR 1 Billion Board Machine

Deliveries from this newly established line are expected to kick off in the second quarter of 2025, with Stora Enso projecting that the line will achieve full operational capacity by the year 2027.

Stora Enso CEO Hans Sohlström commented on the significance of this investment, stating, "With this investment, our Oulu unit will become Stora Enso's largest production facility, an integrated mega-factory that focuses on the future quality of packaging boards and that has a flexible production structure." The Oulu manufacturing plant is set to significantly increase its operational footprint, employing approximately 650 individuals. This facility is expected to consume around 3.5 million cubic meters of wood annually, an increase of one million cubic meters as part of this new venture. Notably, the wood used in production will be sourced locally, alongside pulp from Stora Enso’s Enocell facility in Finland and timber from Veracel’s mill in Brazil.
