Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith Returns For 20th Anniversary

Fans can relive the iconic film in theaters from April 25 to May 2, 2025.

As the galaxy far, far away gears up for a special celebration, fans of the iconic franchise can look forward to the 20th anniversary re-release of "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith." Originally hitting theaters in 2005, this pivotal chapter in the Star Wars saga chronicles the tragic fall of Jedi Anakin Skywalker, played by Hayden Christensen, as he succumbs to the dark side and transforms into the infamous Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

In a move that has delighted fans, Disney and Lucasfilm announced on April 14, 2025, that tickets for the re-release are now available for purchase. The film will return to select theaters across the U.S. and international locations for a limited engagement from April 25 to May 2, 2025. Moviegoers can buy tickets through platforms like Fandango, with various theater chains participating in this nostalgic event, including AMC, Alamo Drafthouse, B&B, Cinemark, Galaxy, Harkins, Marcus, Megaplex, and Regal.

For the first time, audiences will have the chance to experience "Revenge of the Sith" in immersive 4DX format, where high-tech motion chairs sync with over 21 different effects designed to enhance the film's thrilling narrative. From the opening battle above Coruscant to the climactic duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi on the volcanic planet of Mustafar, the 4DX experience promises to engage viewers in ways previously unimagined.

In addition to the re-release, a new poster has been unveiled to commemorate the anniversary, designed by artist Matt Ferguson. This artistic tribute captures the essence of the film while appealing to collectors and fans alike.

The story of "Revenge of the Sith" unfolds against the backdrop of the Clone Wars, where the Jedi Order leads a clone army in a galaxy-wide conflict against the Separatists. The sinister Sith Lord Palpatine, portrayed by Ian McDiarmid, reveals a long-concealed plot to seize control of the galaxy, leading to the Republic's downfall and the rise of the evil Galactic Empire. Anakin, desperate to protect his pregnant wife Padmé Amidala, played by Natalie Portman, is ultimately seduced by the dark side, betraying his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi, portrayed by Ewan McGregor, in a heartbreaking turn of events.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood will also host a special event from April 24 to April 30, 2025. Daily showtimes will be at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $20 for guests of all ages. The celebration kicks off with a prequel trilogy marathon starting at 3 p.m. on April 24, where tickets cost $50 and include a collectible tin filled with all-you-can-eat popcorn, three fountain drinks, and an event credential.

On April 25, the El Capitan will feature a fan event screening of "Revenge of the Sith" at 8:30 p.m., complete with a Galactic DJ Party. Ticket packages for this special screening include:
