Star Academy 2024 is nearing its conclusion, with only four contestants remaining: Franck, Ebony, Marine, and Charles. This week, two of them will battle it out for their place in the final, with Franck and Ebony set to face off next week for their decisive performance. During the prime broadcast on January 4 on TF1, Michael Goldman, director of the Dammarie-les-Lys castle, shared exciting updates about what’s next for the contenders still in the running.
Goldman stated, "Next week is going to be crazy; it’s demi-final week, which always brings plenty of events. Since it’s the week for Marine and Charles, expect some astounding things to happen. Firstly, they’ll return to their home regions. I can’t tell you exactly when, but it’s likely either Tuesday or Wednesday. It’ll be fantastic because they have large communities back home, and there will be tremendous energy to support them."
While the contestants are aware they will be facing pressure, evaluations will still take place on Monday evening. "But why have evaluations since it’s the public who decides for Saturday?" Goldman explained. "The winner of the evaluations will gain an advantage for their demi-final. Throughout the week, they’ll be able to invite a former contestant from this year to come to the castle and perform together."
The remaining four contestants have come a long way since October when they first entered the castle. Over ten weeks have passed, and only four remain after numerous eliminations. Just on December 28, Marguerite surprised everyone by leaving the competition after facing Ulysse, who was nominated for the sixth time. The following Saturday, January 4, Ulysse found himself once again on the chopping block, this time against Charles, Marine, and Franck. Unfortunately, he couldn’t rally enough support for the seventh time, and the doors to the demi-final closed on him.
Now, the stakes have heightened with the upcoming demi-finals set for January 11. This pivotal round will divide the competitions over two distinct evenings featuring two duos. Marine and Charles will kick off the first demi-final. Those who had dreams of seeing both candidates face off again have seen those hopes dashed. Franck and Ebony will clash the following week.
Goldman, during his customary Sunday visit to the castle, laid out the week’s progression for the four remaining candidates. “Next week is going to be crazy,” he reiterated to Charles and Marine, the first duo to compete. He then unveiled some hefty surprises slated for the week.
One of the most significant surprises is giving Marine and Charles the opportunity to return home. They will make their homeward trip on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The contestants reacted with sheer jubilation upon hearing the news. Marine shouted with glee, “It’s massive! I’m going to see my dog!”
Goldman clarified, “You’ll take the round trip on the same day. Both of you will meet your families and see the people from your regions who support you.” Charles reflected on how this brief return home will recharge him: “Seeing my village, my family, and the supporters I’ve had for three months will rejuvenate me for the demi-finals and potentially secure my place for the finale.” He is scheduled to return to Pléneuf-Val-André (Côtes-d’Armor) on Wednesday, with Marine heading to Arras (Nord) on Tuesday.
The demi-finals promise to be not only emotionally uplifting but also star-studded. The four finalists will have the chance to share the stage with international artist Charlie Winston, who is set to duet with Charles, and Marine will perform alongside Canadian singer Charlotte Cardin. Also making appearances will be Santa and Camélia Jordana during this momentous evening.
During their individual performances, both contestants will take on previous favorites, with Marine recreatively selecting "My Heart Will Go On" and Charles performing "SOS d’un terrien en détresse." This showcase will not only thrill audiences but also serve as their final moments before potentially moving to the finale.
With emotions running high and ambitions set, the remaining contestants are gearing up for what promises to be pivotal moments, particularly for Marine and Charles as they venture home one last time before facing each other on stage this Saturday, January 11. With Goldman’s surprises adding to the excitement, the demi-finals are sure to be as breathtaking as they are competitive. Each artist aspires not just to survive another week, but to earn their shot at the grand finale scheduled for January 25.
Meanwhile, the camaraderie and competitive spirit among the contestants are palpable, with each cheering the other on. They fully understand the stakes and the incredible opportunity they’re fighting for. With just one spot open for the coveted trophy, tensions will undoubtedly run high as the time to shine approaches.
