Spring 2025 Travel Trends Show Rise In Group Adventures

Young travelers embrace group trips as popular destinations emerge for the upcoming spring holidays.

With spring just around the corner, many are feeling the urge to travel as the weather warms up and the days become longer. The upcoming extended holiday at the end of April—combining Easter with May Day—provides the perfect opportunity for those eager to escape for more than two weeks with just 6-7 days off work. This year, travelers are leaning heavily toward long-distance destinations, according to Stefano Arossa, Country Manager at WeRoad.

WeRoad, a leader in group travel, has shared insights about this trend as eager vacationers start planning their spring trips. Arossa noted, "Long-distance trips are the most requested for the spring holiday." This trend has also led to travelers securing their bookings well in advance to take advantage of competitive prices.

So, what destinations are topping the lists this year? WeRoad's data indicates strong demand for countries like China, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, and Argentina—each requiring at least 10 days to explore fully. With such diverse options, this spring holiday presents Europeans with unique experiences and opportunities to immerse themselves fully in various cultures.

Interestingly, there's been significant growth not just for destinations, but also for specific travel types. Arossa shared, "There is growing interest in 'art & literature' trips focused on cinema, books, and music, as well as 'active' trips combining sports and nature." This indicates travelers are not only seeking leisure but also education and adventure, seeking something beyond the typical beach getaway.

But the trend isn’t limited to just long-distance travel. With the holiday fast approaching, short weekend getaways are also seeing increased requests. Travelers are beginning to mix longer excursions with smaller, spontaneous trips to nearby destinations.

Meanwhile, another aspect of travel is gaining traction among younger generations: group travel. This trend has become particularly popular over the past few years, with many young adults choosing to travel together with predetermined itineraries. An annual survey revealed significant preferences; seven out of ten young people reported preferring group trips, as this format allows for organized travel experiences with like-minded peers.

The appeal of group travel lies heavily in its convenience. For young travelers, it offers the chance to explore new destinations without the stress of planning. "Group travel provides the opportunity to meet peers from other countries and experience different cultures, enriching their personal experiences," noted one traveler. The security of being part of a group can alleviate concerns about traveling alone, allowing adventure-seekers to explore with confidence.

Environmental consciousness is also shaping travel choices among younger travelers. Shared transport and expenses through group trips not only reduce individual costs but also lessen the environmental impact of vacations. Many are motivated by the idea of reducing their carbon footprint and making mindful choices about how they travel.

With this growing trend, companies like WeRoad are well-positioned to cater to the needs of travelers by offering more diverse, engaging travel options. This spring, as travelers set their eyes on destinations from China to Brazil, it seems they’re also seeking experiences enriched by cultural exploration, shared adventures, and community.

Whether opting for long-range trips or quick escapes, the allure of exploring new places during the upcoming spring holidays is undeniable. Will this trend of experiential group travel continue to dominate the future of tourism? Only time will tell. But for now, those planning their trips for the expansive holiday have plenty of exciting options at their fingertips.
