Southern All Stars Headline Music Station Special With New Songs

The two-hour event features a diverse lineup including timelesz, Aimyon, and SixTONES debuting fresh hits.

On March 21, 2025, the live music program Music Station (M-Ste) on TV Asahi will host a two-hour special event featuring nine popular music acts with an array of new songs and performances. This marks an eagerly anticipated return for the Southern All Stars, who will perform for the first time in two years and introduce songs from their recent album.

The Southern All Stars, a legendary band in Japanese music, will showcase three songs during this special, including "Yume no Uchuu Ryokou," which is a popular TV commercial song, as well as their new tracks "Gomen ne, Okasan" and "Jyanne Daark ni Yoroshiku" from their album THANK YOU SO MUCH, released just two days earlier on March 19. Their performance is expected to be a highlight of the night, with especially great significance placed on "Gomen ne, Okasan," which has made waves on social media for its shocking lyrics and dark theme, often described as a cinematic experience by fans.

Joining them on stage will be a rich lineup of other artists. Aimyon will deliver a double-header of songs, including the theme for the latest Doraemon film, titled "Sketch," as well as "Kimi no Yume wo Kikinagara, Boku wa Waraeru Idea wo!" This performance will also mark the television debut of these songs, adding to the excitement for viewers.

Another major act, the Sandaime J Soul Brothers, will present their hit "What Is Your Secret?," the theme song for the drama "Forest" starring Kenjiro Iwata. Meanwhile, the band SUPER BEAVER will perform "Kataomoi," while SEKAI NO OWARI plans to present their song "Sakura," tied to the movie "Shonen to Inu." Moreover, the mac and cheese-inspired band Macaroni Empitsu will showcase "NOW LOADING," the main theme for the film Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru.

SixTONES, known for their energetic performances, will sing "Varia," associated with a movie featuring their member Jesse, while the up-and-coming Number_i is set to perform "GOD_i," which recorded a remarkable 1.6 million streams on its first day, quickly skyrocketing past 21 million total streams.

One of the most exciting moments of the night will be the debut performance from the music group timelesz, which has recently transitioned into an eight-member lineup following an audition project. They will perform "Rock this Party," a debut track that encapsulates the collaborative spirit and dreams of the members, a sentiment expressed by member Matsushima, who noted, “This group is a community of destiny. We will never stop pursuing our shared dreams, no matter how thorny the road might be.”

Another member, Sato, explained that the song is about the joy of working together as a party, stating, “We want to enjoy our time together as we experience new things.” Their performance is set to be full of energy, especially with the added pressure of it being their first appearance on such a prominent platform, with member Teranishi inviting viewers to pay attention to specific dance moves tied to significant dates within their group's timeline.

The show is not just about the music; an entertaining segment dedicated to debut songs from different eras will also be presented. This will feature a ranking of debut songs from the Showa era as well as the Heisei and Reiwa eras, celebrating timeless classics while introducing newer hits. With rare footage and nostalgic moments, this retrospective promises to captivate audiences.

In summary, the Music Station two-hour special scheduled for March 21 presents a thrilling opportunity for music lovers to enjoy not only the performances of established acts like the Southern All Stars and Aimyon but also to witness fresh faces like timelesz emerging onto the national stage.
