South Korea's thoroughbred industry is making headlines today with the launch of its advanced online betting system, ‘SpeedOn 2.0’. Administrated by the Korean Racing Authority, under the chairmanship of Ha Hyung-Joo, this new system, which debuted on January 31, 2025, aims to revolutionize the online betting experience by enhancing customer convenience and promoting responsible gambling.
The development of SpeedOn 2.0 began over a year ago, with enhancements focused on improving users’ experiences. Notably, the new system boasts significant improvements in readability and visibility, making it more user-friendly for bettors. “SpeedOn 2.0 features significantly enhanced readability and visibility, and provides easier access for beginners through streamlined purchasing processes,” commented Ha Hyung-Joo, the chairperson of the KRA. These changes are set to lower barriers for novice bettors who may have previously felt overwhelmed by the betting process.
Adding to its user-friendliness, SpeedOn 2.0 offers diversified information resources. The system will now feature detailed information about individual players, matchups, and race videos to help users establish their betting strategies. “We have incorporated customer feedback through advisory groups and surveys to diversify the information available, including detailed player stats and race videos for analysis,” Ha elaborated. By integrating such comprehensive resources, the KRA hopes to empower users with the knowledge necessary for informed betting decisions.
One of the standout features of SpeedOn 2.0 is its commitment to promoting responsible gambling practices. The system has significantly ramped up its initiatives aimed at keeping betting within safe limits. According to the KRA, “Responsible gambling measures have also been greatly improved with customized guides and enhanced self-purchase limits.” New tools are now available for users to set their own gambling limits, alongside additional guidelines intended to promote safe betting habits and mitigate issues related to alcohol and gambling addiction.
To celebrate the launch of SpeedOn 2.0, the KRA has announced promotional activities during the first two weeks following the rollout. The racing authority has devised events to distribute coupons for SpeedOn usage to 30,000 users, with 3,000 coupons available each day. These activities align with the KRA's mission to not only boost engagement with the new platform but also to promote gambling as fun yet responsible entertainment.
Accessible for download from January 30, 2025, at 8 PM, with dedicated rates available through both the One Store and the SpeedOn website, the new platform aims to meet customers where they are, adapting to the ever-changing preferences of bettors.

With the introduction of SpeedOn 2.0, the KRA is optimistic about altering the online betting narrative, positioning South Korea’s thoroughbred betting market as not just innovative but also steeped in responsibility and care for its users.
