The weather forecast for São Paulo indicates a wet and cloudy day ahead as the region braces for the arrival of autumn. On March 20, 2025, the city is expected to experience temperatures ranging from a chillier 17°C to a warm 26°C.
Early morning temperatures will begin at 20°C, dropping slightly to 19°C by mid-morning. The afternoon will see a peak temperature of 26°C as residents navigate the day with a significant chance of rain looming over them.
According to reports, there is a staggering 95% chance of rain throughout the day, creating a potential for steady downpours as a cold front transitions through the area. The humidity is anticipated to fluctuate between 54% and 96%, contributing to the overall moisture in the atmosphere.
The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo issued an alert for storms, pairing recommendations with warnings about potential hazards such as landslides and road flooding. They note that wind gusts could reach up to 100 km/h, especially in the eastern regions, including the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo and the Baixada Santista.
"Heavy rain, accompanied by wind gusts that can reach up to 100 km/h, were expected to hit São Paulo as the autumn season begins," the Civil Defense spokesperson noted. They further explained that the maximum temperatures in the greater São Paulo area are projected around 25°C.
The warning is particularly pertinent due to the heavy rainfall predicted for March 19, which has already set the stage for heightened alertness among local officials and residents alike as some areas might already face minor flooding issues.
Furthermore, the conditions anticipated for early spring bring with them not just rain but also potential instances of hail and some broader atmospheric instability impacting the city into the evening hours.
Forecasts suggest that while the sun will briefly rise at 06:09 AM, visibility throughout the day may suffer, with misty and rainy conditions keeping residents sheltered. The sunset is expected around 06:18 PM, limiting daylight as the skies remain obscured.
As temperatures roll into the following week, residents can expect a gradual temperature range from 17°C up to about 28°C on different days; specifically, the forecast outlook for March 21 suggests a minimum of 17°C and reaching a maximum of 27°C.
All these conditions indicate that São Paulo is on the cusp of transitioning into autumn with dramatic weather shifts urging caution among the populace. Given the earlier alerts and weather phenomena, it’s prudent for residents to prepare for changing weather while staying informed about the ongoing situation.
