SM Supermalls President Steven Tan has launched the SM Active Hub, the largest sports playground in the Philippines, aimed at promoting active lifestyles among Filipinos. The launch took place on March 9, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Activity Center, following Tan's vision which began five years ago during the pandemic.
The SM Active Hub boasts 44 pickleball courts and 14 running hubs distributed across 21 malls and 87 shopping centers nationwide, providing ample opportunities for individuals to engage with the sporting community. Aside from these facilities, the hub also features a newly built football center positioned atop the MOA and skating rinks within its chain of malls.
"We realized during the pandemic health is just something we should really push for, and that's when we began conceptualizing not just for the Mall of Asia, but across the country from Luzon to Mindanao," Tan explained. His ambition was to create more accessible spaces for fitness and sports activities, emphasizing the need for such facilities beyond just one location.
Tan expressed his optimism about how the SM Active Hub will transform fitness and athletics within the nation, stating his belief it would resonate well with both casual enthusiasts and dedicated athletes. "Our vision is to revolutionize fitness and sports engagement," he remarked during the launch event.
