The skiing season is off to a stellar start across Friuli Venezia Giulia as holiday revelers embrace the slopes amid ideal weather conditions. With the festive period bringing both snowfall and lower temperatures, various ski resorts have welcomed enthusiasts with open arms — offering new tracks and fully operational facilities.
According to PromoTurismoFVG, all ski areas are primed with optimal conditions after substantial snowfalls earlier this week. The powdery snow is complemented by temperatures conducive for skiing, with extensive preparations aimed at maximizing the skiing opportunities available for those celebrating the end of 2024 on the slopes.
Among the areas open, Sappada is particularly lively, featuring working lifts like the Pian dei Nidi with its accompanying slope and skiway, and Eiben Col dei Mughi, which boasts multiple tracks including the Turistica and Nazionale. The Monte Siera lift also operates, allowing skiers to access the Nazionale, Turistica, and skiway, along with several other small lifts catering to beginners.
On December 28, there are plans to open additional ski lifts, including Miravalle and Hochbolt, contingent on weather permitting. Nevelandia is assuredly enjoyable this season, and for cross-country skiing lovers, the Campioni trail awaits with 5.5 kilometers open of its 14 total length.
Forni Avoltri adds to the fun with the Carnia Arena ski track accessible for three out of ten kilometers, making it great for cross-country enthusiasts. At Forni di Sopra, lifts Varmost 1, 2, and 3 are operating alongside their respective slopes, creating options for both new and seasoned skiers. The Davost area also features various open tracks, including beginner-friendly options.
Meanwhile, Sauris starts its ski season with its beginner lifts, and Ravascletto/Zoncolan is knocking on winter’s door with its own set of open lifts such as the Monte Zoncolan funicular, along with several more providing access to various green and blue slopes.
Turning our gaze to Tarvisio, almost all lifts are operational. Skiers rejoice as they glide down the entirety of the Di Prampero slope, which offers both day and night skiing opportunities. The area is supported not just by its significant lifts, such as the telecabina del Lussari, but also adds night skiing back to the schedule starting Friday, December 27.
At Sella Nevea, all lifts are functional, including the Prevala funicular dedicated to pedestrians wanting spectacular views without snow sports. Skiers can take advantage of the telecabina Canin, offering access to the Turistica terrain and its variants.
For those eager to stay updated on lift statuses or ski conditions across the various sites, PromoTurismoFVG provides real-time information and updates through its website. The next snow report is due Monday afternoon, ensuring patrons can plan optimally for their skiing outings.
Regarding ski passes, they can be easily bought at the six ski area ticket offices or through various online platforms. With holiday prices set at high season rates, daily ski passes are currently available between 44 euros for standard rates and reduced options available for seniors, juniors, and those aged over 75 with pricing at 10 euros, and free for children.
A temporary store at Lignano Sabbiadoro also allows for purchasing passes at promotional rates until January 6, encouraging more families and individuals to seek winter fun on the slopes. For ease of skier navigation, interactive ski maps are available online, ensuring everyone can enjoy the exciting action on the slopes without any hitches.
