On April 15, 2025, at the electoral point in via Carducci, the first of two civic lists supporting Silvia Salis' candidacy for mayor of Genoa was unveiled. Named "Silvia Salis Sindaca," this list comprises 40 candidates, including 22 men and 18 women, reflecting a diverse representation of the city’s civil society.
Leading the list is Silvia Pericu, a 55-year-old architect and associate professor in design, who is also the daughter of former mayor Beppe Pericu. Salis expressed her ambition for the list to achieve over 10% of the vote, noting that it is currently polling around 7%. "A double-digit result would be incredible, fantastic, and we hope for it," she stated during the presentation.
"This is a civic, progressive, and transversal list, featuring representatives from all sectors of society," Salis commented, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement in local governance. She believes that the list reflects a clear commitment to progressive values, with many cultural figures among the candidates.
Among the notable names on the list are Filippo Bruzzone, a law graduate and outgoing councilor, writer Bruno Morchio, theater director Laura Sicignano, architect Camilla Ponzano, and lawyers Paolo Scovazzi and Stefano Vignolo. Salis highlighted the variety of backgrounds represented, from university professors to union leaders, psychotherapists, artists, athletes, and students.
The list also includes Linda Alfano, a 59-year-old psychotherapist and director of the Socrem study center; Federica Amadori, a 50-year-old small business owner and writer; Orlando Bardhi, a 22-year-old law student; and Elisabetta Battista, a 58-year-old human sciences teacher. Additionally, Marisa Berrios Morales, aged 64, is involved in volunteering within the domestic sector, while Paolo Bettinelli, 57, has extensive experience in public administration and union leadership.
In her remarks, Salis stressed the need for a broad coalition that can unite various experiences and skills toward a common goal: actively contributing to the future of Genoa. "The center of the city has always favored civic lists, and we see it as a crucial testing ground," she noted.
Salis also addressed potential confusion with another civic list, Riformiamo Genova, stating, "The lists are clearly distinguishable. One is more left-leaning and focused on cultural issues, while the other is a moderate center-left list that aims to attract moderate voters in Genoa who feel disillusioned by the current center-right coalition.”
She encouraged her candidates, saying, "I expect a lot from the lists that carry my name. You must be proud and responsible for representing change in this city. The campaign has begun, and I expect to see you everywhere.”
Angelo Gazzo, a naval constructor and athletics coach, will serve as the list coordinator. Salis praised his efforts, stating, "The work he has done in recent weeks is incredible. He’s working on this project because he cares and believes in it.”
As the campaign gears up for the municipal elections on May 25 and 26, Salis' team aims to mobilize support and engage with the electorate. The list's diverse composition reflects a commitment to inclusivity and responsiveness to the needs of Genoa's citizens.
