Sigma, the renowned Japanese camera manufacturer, has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated full-frame mirrorless camera, Sigma BF. Slated for release in April 2025, this innovative model boasts features such as 6K video capability, cutting-edge autofocus technology, and an unprecedented unibody design.
One of the standout features of the Sigma BF is its unique construction. The camera is crafted from aluminum, taking over seven hours to mill from solid ingots to achieve its seamless form. According to the company, this unibody design, the first of its kind in the history of cameras as of February 2025, enhances structural integrity and provides users with an unparalleled grip.
Equipped with approximately 24.6 million effective pixels, the SIGMA BF utilizes a 35mm back-illuminated CMOS sensor to capture stunning images. It permits shooting at resolutions of up to 6K at 29.97 frames per second. Users can record 2.5 hours of high-quality video or shoot over 14,000 JPEG images on the camera's internal storage, which features 230GB of capacity.
Another notable advancement is its autofocus system, which employs both phase detection and autofocus algorithms, offering hybrid capabilities. Unlike traditional cameras, which often require various physical dials and buttons, the Sigma BF features three operational buttons and one dial, all equipped with haptic feedback.
