A 20-year-old man was seriously hurt as police search for two suspects fleeing the scene.

A 20-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting incident on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, around 14:40 at Gare du Nord in Amsterdam-Noord. Emergency services, including two ambulances and a trauma team, responded quickly to the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital and, according to police reports, was still conscious when first responders arrived.

The shooting occurred just outside Het Bredero, a secondary school formerly known as Bredero Mavo. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots just before the police arrived, and the area was promptly cordoned off. A forensic investigation is underway, with officers examining a crack at the school’s front door that resembles a bullet impact.

As the situation unfolded, police deployed a helicopter to assist in locating the suspects, who fled the scene towards Krijtmolenpark. Descriptions of the two suspects have been released, with both men described as light-skinned and wearing black clothing. The first suspect is approximately 1.70 meters tall, has black hair, and a sunken face. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, and black shoes, possibly carrying a black bag.

The second suspect is slightly taller, around 1.80 meters, and has a black mustache. He was reportedly wearing a black hooded jacket, which might be from The North Face, along with tight black jogging pants and black sports shoes with a white sole, and a black shoulder bag.

Police are urging anyone with information, including dashcam footage or other evidence, to come forward. They have emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving this case and have asked residents to avoid the affected area while the investigation continues.

As the investigation progresses, local authorities are particularly concerned about the safety of students at Het Bredero. Following the incident, students were escorted by police to retrieve their bicycles and fatbikes that had been left parked on the school grounds. The school has been temporarily closed, with parents being notified of the situation.

In a statement, the police confirmed that they are still gathering information and have not yet established a motive for the shooting. They are actively working to piece together the events that led to this alarming incident.

The incident has raised concerns among residents of Amsterdam-Noord, who are now questioning their safety in the area. Local community leaders have called for increased police presence and measures to ensure the safety of students and families in the neighborhood.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police continue their search for the suspects. The community remains on alert, hoping for a swift resolution to the case.

This shooting marks yet another troubling episode in the ongoing concerns about gun violence in urban areas, prompting discussions about public safety and the need for preventive measures. Residents are left to grapple with the implications of such violence in their community, as authorities work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.

In the meantime, the police have reiterated the importance of community cooperation in such cases, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. They have also assured the public that they are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the community and prevent further incidents.
