Sheila Mello Triumphs Over Scheila Carvalho In Lip Sync Showdown

The two iconic dancers celebrate axé music's legacy on Domingão com Huck

On February 23, 2025, the television show Domingão com Huck, aired on TV Globo, featured the much-anticipated Batalha do Lip Sync with former dancers of the popular Brazilian group É o Tchan, Sheila Mello and Scheila Carvalho. The event, marking the third episode of the season, not only delighted fans with nostalgia but also celebrated the 40 years of axé music, reflecting on the genre's rich history.

Hosted by Luciano Huck, the show began at 15:15, right after the popular The Masked Singer Brasil. Mello and Carvalho prepared for their friendly rivalry with much enthusiasm, each expressing their excitement and hints of their performances.

Scheila Carvalho playfully declared she was “super preparada” (super prepared) for the duel, signaling the competitive spirit between the two. “Me aguarde porque Sheila Mello tá no papo,” she teased, promising her fans of an exhilarating performance. Meanwhile, Mello kept the audience guessing with her statement, “Quem vence?” (Who will win?), raising the stakes as both prepared to battle it out.

Throughout the competition, each performer dazzled the audience with two rounds of lip-syncing, enhanced by vibrant choreography, elaborate costumes, and skillful stage presence. The first round served as a warm-up where Carvalho honored Daniela Mercury with her rendition of “O Canto da Cidade.” Meanwhile, Mello took to the stage with the classic “Vamos Abrir a Roda” by Sara Jane—both tributes to the iconic music genre they helped shape.

The hype carried over to the second round, where Carvalho brought on Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting For Tonight,” pulsated with energy and movement, whilst Mello took on the challenge of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” captivating the audience and judges alike with her dynamic performance set against an imaginative green background.

After fierce competition, the public voted, and it was Sheila Mello who emerged victorious with 50.2% of the votes, cementing her place as the champion of this exhilarating episode. Overcome with emotion, Mello reflected on their long-standing careers as entertainers, saying, “Fico muito emocionada. Eu vim da periferia de São Paulo, a Carvalho veio de Minas Gerais… Saber que o nosso trabalho está no coração de vocês depois de 27 anos é incrível” (I am very moved. I came from the outskirts of São Paulo, Carvalho came from Minas Gerais … Knowing our work is still in your hearts after 27 years is amazing).

Carvalho, also sharing the sentiment of connection with the audience, declared, “É um energético para seguir fazendo o que a gente faz” (It’s energizing to keep doing what we do), summing up the evening’s spirit of celebration and reconnection with their fans.

Beyond the lip sync battle, Domingão com Huck also featured other segments, including the analysis of recent events from the reality show Big Brother Brasil with ousted contestant Matheus and the engaging game “The Wall,” showcasing another side of the dynamic entertainment the program offers every week.

The two former Tchan dancers not only entertained with their performances but reminded everyone of their deep roots and contributions to Brazilian music, reinforcing the significance of nostalgia and connection within the entertainment industry. This episode stood as not just about rivalry but as homage to the vibrant legacy of axé music and the power of performance—as fans continue to cherish the moments these artists have provided throughout the years.
