Sharkia Governorate Enhances Infrastructure And Services With New Projects

Governor announces significant improvements across various sectors to uplift local communities.

The Sharkia Governorate is witnessing significant developmental strides under the leadership of Governor Hazem Al-Ashmouny. He has confirmed the continuation of the third phase of the 24th wave aimed at removing unlawful encroachments on agricultural lands and state properties throughout the province. This initiative aligns with directives from the President of Egypt to safeguard state property and enforce the law effectively.

Governor Al-Ashmouny explained the joint efforts of the executive authorities, alongside security agencies, to cut off public utilities from residences built illegally on state-owned land. This resulted in the removal of five encroachments spanning 1,375 square meters and six additional incursions over three feddans and 20 carats. Al-Ashmouny reiterated the commitment of the Sharkia Governorate to uphold the law against illegal construction and to counter any attempts at unauthorized building.

Throughout 2024, the Sharkia Governorate's executive authorities, especially within the center and city of Al-Husseiniya, have been praised for their endeavors to improve service delivery across various sectors. A headline initiative known as the Karam Initiative, aimed at uplifting rural communities, is pivotal to these efforts. It focuses on human development and enhancing the quality of life for residents, ensuring they access necessary services without excessive travel burdens.

This comprehensive initiative has seen the implementation of numerous service and developmental projects, particularly within sectors such as sanitation, drinking water, health, education, and infrastructure. Reporting on progress, it was noted for the sanitation sector, 181 projects have been initiated. Of these, 160 projects are completed, with 21 currently underway, achieving an impressive 98% completion rate.

Similarly, the drinking water sector has executed 102 projects, with 101 completed and only one remaining project pending, showcasing a 99% execution rate. The canal lining project includes 36 initiatives, with 32 completed and four still being worked on, which equates to 93% completion.

On another front, the construction and expansion of educational facilities are also making headway. Al-Ashmouny reported the completion of 107 educational projects comprising 48 new schools and 614 classroom expansions, demonstrating full execution of the education sector’s goals.

Health improvements are notable with 61 healthcare projects, 54 of which have been completed, leaving seven under way—reflecting another high completion rate of 99%. The establishment of seven ambulance points has met significant demands, with each of these points fully functional.

Infrastructure and transport have also seen meaningful enhancements. The sector focused on internal roads has completed nine of 46 planned, and work continues on ten additional roads, demonstrating progressive commitment to developments.

Under local economy initiatives, 10 governmental complexes and 10 agricultural complexes have been established, each completed at 100%. Social unit projects, residential complexes comprising 26 buildings, and their respective 208 housing units have also been concluded.

An important aspect of this comprehensive development strategy includes the provision of proper communication facilities, highlighted by the 41 projects completed within the telecommunications sector. The focus on electricity and illumination has resulted in 82 projects, 66 of which are completed, ensuring households and businesses can function effectively.

Through these development measures, the governorate aims to boost the socioeconomic environment significantly. Residents are witnessing first-hand improvements, which not only promise immediate benefits but also long-term enhancements to the very fabric of their community.

Overall, the results reported by Governor Al-Ashmouny highlight not just statistics but the transformative impact of these initiatives. They reflect the Egyptian government's broader push toward enhancing living standards and fostering sustainable growth, targeting comprehensive improvements across all facets of rural and urban life.

Questions remain around ensuring the sustainability and maintenance of these projects. The commitment from the Sharkia authorities to manage and oversee these developments continues to be of utmost importance, as does their ability to adapt and respond to the needs of their communities.
