Seville Fair 2025 Set To Celebrate Tradition And Innovation

The fair returns to its classic format with exciting new features and transport options for visitors.

The Seville Fair 2025 is set to unfold in its most traditional form from May 6 to May 11, marking a return to its six-day celebration format. This year, the festivities will kick off with the traditional 'pescaíto' dinner on the evening of May 5, followed by the famous 'alumbrao' of the Portada, the main entrance to the fairgrounds. The anticipation is palpable as both locals and visitors prepare for a week filled with vibrant celebrations.

Organized by the Delegation of Mobility of the Dos Hermanas City Council, led by Antonio Morán Sánchez, special schedules for urban public transport have been announced to accommodate the influx of attendees. From May 5 to May 9, changes will affect line 5, connecting the urban center with the Montequinto neighborhood, and line 6, or Metrobús, which links the center of Dos Hermanas with the Olivar de Quintos Metro station. Urban lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 will maintain their usual schedules throughout the week. Importantly, public transport in Dos Hermanas is free with the Seville Transport Consortium card, a benefit that extends to all special services during the fair.

The Portada of the Seville Fair has undergone a striking transformation this year, drawing inspiration from the Pabellón de Chile, a notable architectural piece from the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. This design marks a departure from the traditional Andalusian regionalist style, embracing a more modern aesthetic. Architect Pablo Escudero Gisbert, a passionate advocate for the fair, has crafted a proposal that pays homage to the Chile Pavilion, incorporating elements of neo-pre-Columbian and Art Deco styles. The new Portada will measure an impressive 50 meters wide and 40 meters high, featuring two large lateral towers and a central arch inspired by the pavilion's windows.

The color scheme will consist of coral and white as the primary tones, complemented by green accents, ensuring that the Portada will shine brightly both day and night. Escudero’s vision aims to celebrate Seville's heritage while also showcasing its architectural diversity, making this year’s fair a unique experience for attendees.

As the countdown to the fair begins, preparations are in full swing at the Real, the fairgrounds. Despite a recent blackout on April 28, which affected many regions, the assembly of the fair was largely undeterred. Operators were seen checking wiring and electrical towers to ensure that the lighting and electrical connections to the over 1,000 casetas (tents) were secure. The temporary electricity supply network, activated two days before the fair, allows for smooth operations, even when unexpected challenges arise.

In light of the recent blackout, loading and unloading delays were reported by suppliers, with Miguel Rus, president of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Seville, noting that many companies were a day behind schedule in delivering goods to the fair. Nevertheless, the atmosphere remains optimistic as the community rallies to ensure everything is ready for the fair's opening.

For those planning to attend, understanding the expected attendance patterns can enhance the experience. Tuesday, May 6, is anticipated to be particularly busy, as it is the first official day of the fair, coinciding with a local holiday on Wednesday, May 7. This midweek holiday draws many families and friends, creating a lively atmosphere. The weekend of May 10 and 11 is also expected to attract a significant number of visitors, especially from outside Seville.

Conversely, Monday, May 5, known as the Noche del Pescaíto, tends to see lower attendance as many casetas host private dinners before the official start of the festivities. Additionally, Thursday, May 8, and Friday, May 9, are generally quieter days, as many locals take the opportunity to rest or travel ahead of the bustling weekend.

To navigate the fair with ease, it is recommended to utilize public transport, as special bus and shuttle services will be in place to facilitate access to the Real. This year, the fair is expected to be a vibrant celebration, showcasing not only the rich cultural heritage of Seville but also its capacity for innovation and change.

As the community prepares for the Seville Fair 2025, the excitement is building. The blend of tradition and modernity, coupled with the festive spirit, promises a memorable experience for all who attend. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned participant, the fair is set to deliver unforgettable moments, delicious food, and lively music, embodying the essence of Seville's cultural identity.
