Severe Weather Predicted Across Bihar And Delhi-NCR

Residents brace for storms and rising temperatures as weather warnings are issued

Weather scientists have forecast a challenging week ahead for residents of Nalanda, Bihar, with bad weather expected to persist until April 15, 2025. The region is bracing for light rain and storms, a situation made all the more dire following the devastating storm that struck on April 10, resulting in 22 fatalities and significant property damage.

According to the weather department, the advisory indicates that Nalanda will experience adverse weather conditions over the next four days, with residents advised to stay alert. The department has warned of possible thunderstorms and light rain across various locations, particularly in South Bihar, where the impact is expected to be most severe.

"The weather situation is not favorable for the next four days, and people in Nalanda and other parts of the state will continue to face difficulties," said a spokesperson from the weather department. The advisory predicts that light rain could occur in several districts, including Patna, Gaya, and Sheikhpura, particularly on April 12 and 13, 2025.

In the wake of the April 10 storm, which wreaked havoc across the region, the department has advised residents to check for weather updates regularly. The storm left many homes damaged and has heightened concerns for public safety.

Meanwhile, the weather in Delhi-NCR is gradually clearing up after experiencing severe dust storms and strong winds on April 11 and 12, 2025. The temperature has dropped significantly, bringing relief to residents who had been suffering from the heat. However, forecasters warn that the heat will return starting April 13, with temperatures expected to rise again.

"We can expect a gradual increase in temperatures starting Sunday, with maximum temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 20 degrees," said a meteorologist. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave from April 16 to 18, predicting maximum temperatures could soar to between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius during this period.

As the heat returns, the weather department has cautioned that hot winds will exacerbate the discomfort, and dust storms may occur as well. The forecast indicates that the temperature will rise to 39-41 degrees Celsius on April 14 and 15, with clear skies expected.

In Uttar Pradesh, the weather is also shifting. While some areas may experience light showers, many regions are predicted to face heatwaves. The temperature in eastern Uttar Pradesh could reach 42-43 degrees Celsius, while western districts like Agra and Meerut may see temperatures up to 40-41 degrees Celsius.

"The heatwave will return to North India, and we expect dry conditions to prevail until Wednesday, April 16," the weather department reported. They also noted that humidity levels would remain low, intensifying the sensation of heat.

In Bihar, the situation remains critical as the state continues to deal with the aftermath of severe weather. The IMD has issued a rain alert, predicting thunderstorms and lightning in several districts, including Purnia, Araria, and Kishanganj, where strong winds could reach speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

"We have seen tragic losses due to the recent storms, with 80 fatalities reported across the state. The weather department is closely monitoring conditions and will provide updates as necessary," said a local official.

As the region braces for more unpredictable weather, residents are urged to stay vigilant and heed the warnings issued by the weather department. The coming days are expected to bring a mix of rain, thunderstorms, and rising temperatures, making it crucial for individuals to remain informed.

The weather outlook for the upcoming week indicates a volatile mix of conditions across various states. In Uttarakhand, intermittent rain and snowfall have brought a drop in temperatures, providing some relief from the heat that has plagued much of North India.

Despite the recent storms, the forecast suggests that temperatures in the mountainous regions may remain cool, while lower areas are expected to heat up significantly. The weather department has also warned of potential thunderstorms in eastern Uttar Pradesh, particularly in districts like Varanasi and Prayagraj.

Overall, the weather in the region remains a cause for concern as communities continue to recover from recent disasters while preparing for the heat and storms ahead. Residents are advised to keep abreast of the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
