Severe Weather Brings Thunderstorms And Rain Across The Middle East On February 12

The Middle East is bracing for severe and unstable weather on February 12, 2025, as multiple regions prepare for thunderstorms, heavy rains, and fluctuated temperatures. Leading meteorological authorities have issued alerts and forecasts predicting varying levels of precipitation and harsh weather conditions.

According to the National Center of Meteorology, Saudi Arabia will experience inconsistent weather on this day, particularly due to anticipated thunderstorms. The forecast emphasizes the potential for varying intensities of rainfall across several regions including the Northern Borders, Eastern Provinces, Riyadh, Al-Qassim, Hail, Medina, Makkah, Aseer, and Jazan, leading to active winds and dust storms.

The center reported, "Expect thunderstorms with heavy rainfall possibly leading to flash floods, especially on the northern and eastern fronts of the country." On this day, different regions will witness temperatures fluctuated from lows of 3 °C to highs of 32 °C. For example, Makkah will see highs of 29 °C and lows of 19 °C, whereas Tabuk will be significantly cooler with highs of 17 °C and lows reaching 3 °C.

Meanwhile, the weather conditions aren’t just limited to Saudi Arabia. The Egyptian meteorological authority has indicated chilly daytime temperatures for the greater Cairo area, averaging around 18 °C during the day and significantly cooler at night, dipping down around 10 °C. Light to moderate rain is also predicted along the northwestern coast.

The forecast adds, "Expect variability throughout your day as rain may intensify later, leading to possible disruptions and colder nights.”

Further north, Jammu and Kashmir are predicted to experience bitterly cold temperatures, with expected lows around -30.83 °C and highs of -14.62 °C. The region will also experience significant snow, with relative humidity at 43% and high wind speeds, presenting potential hazards.

Governments and meteorological services strongly advise all residents to prepare accordingly. Warnings were issued about visibility reductions due to fog and dust, along with severe cold advisories for regions susceptible to frost. It is encouraged to monitor local broadcasts for real-time updates.

“Take necessary precautions. The weather may create hazardous driving conditions; we urge individuals to stay informed,” noted officials from the respective meteorological departments across the Middle East. They stress keeping safety at priority amid unpredictable weather patterns.

Strong winds are anticipated across various coastal areas, affecting maritime activities due to expected wave heights between 1 to 2 meters. The Red Sea and Arabian Gulf are especially at risk, with winds purportedly reaching speeds of 50 km/h.

Weather conditions such as these underline the need for proactive community engagement and preparation. Awareness campaigns are underway to encourage individuals and businesses to make adjustments during this period of severe weather.

Local authorities are also preparing for possible emergency responses including road safety measures and preparations for potential evacuations if flooding occurs. It is recommended to have emergency kits and stay updated via reliable news sources.

Looking beyond February 12, weather forecasts indicate fluctuated conditions may continue, calling for vigilant monitoring and community preparedness. Experts urge the public to heed the warnings and take the necessary protective measures throughout this challenging weather phase.

Overall, with variable weather affecting such large areas, the approach to personal safety and readiness cannot be overstated.
