The records didn't stop there; Carolina Beach encountered rainfall exceeding 18 inches within half a day, deemed to occur just once every millennium. Extreme conditions forced officials to issue warnings about flash flooding across affected areas, urging residents to remain vigilant. While the low-pressure system was not organized enough to be classified as a tropical storm, weather experts compared its effects to those typically associated with stronger storms.
“People have been dealing with flash flooding, tornado warnings, rough surf, and beach erosion across the coastal Carolinas,” noted Bernie Rayno, meteorologist at AccuWeather. Local roads flooded to depths of at least three feet, transitioning them to virtual rivers and making travel treacherous.

During more severe flooding, where water levels might hinder escape, they should use the boot release or, if available, the sunroof for exiting the vehicle.
“Once everyone is outside the vehicle, they must get to higher ground, avoiding flowing water,” cautioned transportation safety authorities. They asserted the necessity of remaining vigilant as conditions can escalate without warning.
