A serious accident occurred shortly after midnight on December 25, 2025, when a man was severely injured after being struck by a train at the railway crossing on Bahnhofstrasse in Interlaken, Switzerland. Emergency services were swiftly deployed after the accident was reported to the Kantonspolizei Bern.
Upon arrival, the first responders discovered the injured individual at the scene, where he had attempted to cross the tracks at closed barriers.
According to police reports, the man was trying to navigate the crossing when he was hit by the train traveling from Interlaken West to Interlaken Ost. "Despite the immediate full braking, the collision could not be avoided," stated the Bern Cantonal Police.
