Sepp Straka Leads 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Rory McIlroy and Russell Henley follow closely as contenders heat up during the tournament.

The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is well underway, showcasing some of golf's biggest stars on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. After the second round, Austrian golfer Sepp Straka is leading the pack at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill, where stellar performances are attracting attention this weekend.

Straka, who tasted victory at the American Express just two weeks ago, maintained his momentum by carding impressive rounds of 65 on both tournament courses. After the second round on Friday, he holds the lead at 14-under par, putting him two strokes clear of his closest competitors. Straka's consistency stems from solid ball-striking and adept putting, particularly beneficial after making adjustments to his setup. "Yeah, definitely, the putting," Straka remarked, identifying recent changes as key to his current success. "I made a few setup changes, and that's really helped out a lot."

Following closely behind Straka are Russell Henley and Cameron Davis, both sitting at 11-under par. Henley managed to finish with a 69 on Friday, demonstrating resilience on the course, particularly after battling through the ups and downs of his round. "Oh, man, try to be positive," Henley said, acknowledging the tough conditions expected for the third round. Gusty winds up to 30 mph forecasted for Saturday may test all players, making strategic decision-making and shot execution even more pivotal.

This year's Pro-Am features notable moments, including Rory McIlroy's spectacular last-hole eagle during the second round, bringing him to eight-under par overall. McIlroy, who recorded a hole-in-one during his opening round, was thrilled about his performance, albeit frustrated by some costly mistakes through holes 13 to 17. "I played well today besides those few holes," he noted.

Spanning through the picturesque Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill, the tournament presents not only breathtaking views but also high-stakes competition. Without the pressure of cuts this season, 79 players will take to the greens over the weekend, allowing fans to witness the golf competition through its thrilling conclusion.

Day two’s leaderboard alone was noteworthy, characterized by tight races and extraordinary achievements, including first-round leaders and world-class talent. Straka tops the standings, but the event’s history suggests dramatic shifts can happen quickly when conditions become challenging.
