Seoul Love's Heat Donates 190 Million Won For Education

The funds will support educational welfare projects for disadvantaged students in Seoul.

On March 25, 2025, the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, also known as Seoul Love's Heat, made a significant contribution to education in the city by donating approximately 190 million won to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. This donation aims to support educational welfare projects for students from educationally disadvantaged families.

The donation ceremony took place at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, where Superintendent Jeong Geun-sik and Executive Director Shin Hye-young of Seoul Love's Heat were present. This initiative is part of the 'Hope 2025 School Sharing Campaign,' which has been instrumental in raising funds to bridge the educational gap for elementary, middle, and high school students in Seoul.

Since 2015, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and Seoul Love's Heat have collaborated on various educational welfare initiatives. Initially, their partnership focused on meal support projects, but it has expanded significantly over the years. Starting in 2020, the collaboration has included improvements to educational environments and scholarship support, reflecting a growing commitment to enhancing educational welfare.

In the previous year, the impact of this partnership was evident when 113 students received financial assistance for school uniforms, while 318 students benefited from funding for small-group themed educational trips and extracurricular activities. These efforts not only provide essential resources but also foster a more equitable educational landscape for students facing financial hardships.

This year's donations will continue to support various educational welfare programs, specifically targeting students struggling with educational expenses. The funds are expected to be used for initiatives that ensure equal learning opportunities and promote emotional growth among students.

Superintendent Jeong Geun-sik emphasized the importance of community involvement in education, stating, "The spirit of sharing that students engage in voluntarily will become a lifelong asset." He affirmed that the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education would continue to work closely with Seoul Love's Heat to realize educational welfare and bridge the existing gaps.

Similarly, Executive Director Shin Hye-young expressed her commitment to fostering a supportive environment for students. She remarked, "Educational sharing is the foundation that makes our society warmer," adding that the organization aims to be a strong support system for children's learning and growth.

The 'Hope 2025 School Sharing Campaign' is an ongoing initiative that aims to enhance the public nature of educational welfare. Each year, numerous schools, teachers, and students participate, contributing to a collective effort to improve educational access and equity.

This collaboration not only addresses immediate educational needs but also instills a sense of community and shared responsibility among students, teachers, and families. By engaging students in acts of sharing and support, the program promotes a culture of empathy and collective growth.

As the 2025 campaign progresses, both the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and Seoul Love's Heat are dedicated to ensuring that educational welfare continues to be a priority. With a focus on holistic education, the initiatives aim to provide not only academic support but also emotional and social development opportunities for students.

In a world where educational disparities often dictate future opportunities, such collaborative efforts are vital. They not only provide necessary resources but also empower students to participate in their communities actively. This approach helps cultivate a generation that values sharing and cooperation, ultimately contributing to a more equitable society.

As these organizations move forward, they remain committed to their mission of providing educational support and resources to those who need it most. The partnership between Seoul Love's Heat and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education is a testament to the power of community and the importance of investing in the future of young learners.
