The Semarang Religious Affairs Office is making significant strides by launching initiatives aimed at enhancing public service and fostering environmental awareness. Recently, Sriyati, one of its Madrasah Supervisors, received national recognition for her innovative and dedicated service. This accolade reflects not just her personal achievement but the broader commitment of the office to excellence and community inspiration.
On January 28, 2025, Sriyati was honored as the Innovative, Dedication, and Achievement Madrasah Supervisor at the National Level. During a morning assembly at the Semarang Religious Affairs Office, Moch. Fatkhurronji, the Head of the Education and Madrasah Division, praised her exceptional contributions. "Not all supervisors have the opportunity and ability like Mrs. Sriyati who has achieved at the national level. Congratulations Mrs. Sriyati. May this achievement inspire and motivate us to perform even more effectively," he remarked.
Beyond recognizing individual excellence, the Semarang Religious Affairs Office has also taken proactive measures to develop integrity within its operations. On February 24, 2025, officials from the office initiated the establishment of the Integrity Zone (ZI), targeting improved public service delivery. Dony Aldise Harahap, the Head of Administration and leader of the ZI initiative, emphasized the need for clear objectives and planning during the coordination meeting with staff members. "We hope this Integrity Zone development can manifest public services oriented toward customer satisfaction. The public should receive services according to or beyond their expectations," he stated.
The focus on integrity is coupled with commitments to environmental responsibility. Following up on earlier discussions with the Semarang Environment Agency, the office hosted 17 religious mentors, led by Rahmat Hidayat, for hands-on training on effective waste management practices. This initiative is part of the office's innovative program called "Klangenan" (Kementerian Agama Peduli Pangan dan Lingkungan), which translates to the Ministry of Religious Affairs Caring for Food and the Environment.
During their visit to the Environment Agency, the mentors learned various techniques for managing waste sustainably, including composting, eco-enzymes, and the production of organic fertilizers. Rahmat Hidayat expressed hope for the practical knowledge gained: "We hope this waste management can be implemented at household and community levels, thereby reducing waste production and preserving the environment."
The collaboration with the Environment Agency is pivotal for the Sustainable Development Goals the Semarang Religious Affairs Office is aiming to achieve. The training session not only equipped the participants with sustainable practices but also gave them the tools to educate their communities. Rahmat added, "We will socially disseminate and directly practice how to manage waste to create beneficial products."
These initiatives represent a commitment from the Semarang Religious Affairs Office not just to religious education but to fostering community well-being and environmental stewardship. By recognizing individual achievements like Sriyati's and instituting comprehensive programs, the office is setting a standard for public service and community engagement. With every step taken, there's hope for creating lasting impacts for both today’s society and the environment, ensuring services exceed public expectations and contribute positively to the community as well as environmental preservation.
