Selvaggia Lucarelli Opens Up On Verissimo About Life And Love

The journalist shares her personal struggles and thoughts on celebrity controversies, including empathy for Chiara Ferragni.

Selvaggia Lucarelli shared candid details of her personal life, her relationships, and her opinions on various topics during her debut appearance on the Italian talk show Verissimo, hosted by Silvia Toffanin, airing on February 23, 2025.

During the emotionally charged episode, Lucarelli reflected on her upbringing, describing her childhood as somewhat isolated. Growing up in an ex-working-class village, she noted, "I was solitary, had few friends there," shedding light on how this early experience shaped her personality.

The conversation naturally flowed to her familial relationships, particularly with her parents. Lucarelli recalled how her mother faced significant struggles, including the heartbreaking loss of her second child shortly after birth and enduring several miscarriages before Lucarelli's birth. "Mia mamma ha perso un figlio, provava a rimanere incinta ma aveva una serie di aborti spontanei..." she explained, emphasizing the emotional weight of her family's history.

Shifting the focus to her ex-husband, Laerte Pappalardo, father of her son Leon, Lucarelli expressed her pride at having developed a positive relationship post-separation. "Ho un buon rapporto con lui, per il mio ed il suo di bene. Questo aspetto è la grande conquista della mia vita," she conveyed, acknowledging the growth they both achieved through their co-parenting efforts.

Lucarelli did not shy away from recounting her experience with toxic relationships, identifying it as something significantly detrimental to her well-being. "Era una storia malata, io avevo fame e desiderio di essere amata," she noted, highlighting the mental and physical toll this relationship exerted on her life. Despite the difficulties, Lucarelli emphasized her path to recovery, saying, "Ne sono uscita senza chiedere aiuto. Ho fatto un grande lavoro su me stessa e il tempo mi ha aiutato molto."

Among the more controversial topics she addressed was the public scrutiny surrounding influencer Chiara Ferragni and her husband Fedez amid scandalous allegations. Lucarelli expressed empathy toward Ferragni, arguing, "Mi sembra che abbia pagato a sufficienza. Ha fatto qualcosa di profondamente sbagliato ed eticamente discutibile, ma oggi le sue società sono in crisi profondissime..." She pressed for the public to grant Ferragni a second chance, acknowledging both the consequences she has faced and the societal response to her actions.

When questioned about Fedez, Lucarelli remarked on perceived disparities between the public's reaction to him versus Ferragni, stating, "Dall’altra parte l’ex coniuge riceve assoluzioni in maniera molto più facile... A lui vengono perdonate cose che per me più gravi."

Despite discussing serious subjects, there was also lightness when talking about her current boyfriend, Lorenzo Biagiarelli. Lucarelli shared how he complements her life, saying, "Lui sa capire quando la mia parola sgarbata non è diretta a lui... siamo complici e riusciamo a superare tutti i momenti difficili." Their relationship flourished over almost ten years, and through numerous challenges, including the public backlash they faced during the investigation connected to the suicide of restaurant owner Giovanna Pedretti.

Throughout her interview on Verissimo, Lucarelli's unfiltered manner, where she intertwines her past with her present and reflects on both personal growth and societal dynamics, captivated viewers and elicited empathy for both her and those she discussed. The episode served not only as insight to Lucarelli’s life but as commentary on the broader societal expectations imposed on public figures.
