Searches Conducted At IT Company Krok's Moscow Office

The company maintains operations amid law enforcement investigations into its activities.

Law enforcement agencies conducted searches at the Moscow office of the IT company "Krok" on March 20, 2025, raising questions about its operations.

According to a source in law enforcement cited by TASS, investigators arrived in the morning to examine various documents related to the company's activities. However, the press service of "Krok" neither confirmed nor denied the reports of the raids, instead asserting that the firm continues to operate without disruptions.

In response to inquiries, the company emphasized via its Telegram channel that "all business processes are functioning smoothly" and that it is fully meeting its obligations to clients, partners, and employees. "Projects are executed in accordance with contractual commitments, and all information resources remain accessible for communication and project discussions," it added.

Founded in 1992, "Krok" initially specialized in supplying and servicing computer equipment. Over the years, it has evolved into an IT service provider focusing on system integration and managed B2B cloud services. The company's portfolio now includes expertise in big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, and the Internet of Things.

"Krok" is particularly notable for its role in developing the state automated voting system known as "Vybory," and it has worked extensively with information systems for the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the unified state exam (EGAIS) tracking system, as reported by Forbes.

In the wake of reports about the searches, the management reassured stakeholders by stating that "client support, along with all operations, remains intact and uninterrupted." They indicated that the execution of projects continues in line with established regulations.

The company has not only made substantial contributions to governmental projects but is also recognized among leading IT consulting firms in Russia. In 2023, it ranked 25th among all Russian IT companies in terms of revenue, reporting figures of 32.4 billion rubles. Its net profit was noted to be 679.67 million rubles, reflecting a growth of 28.7% from the previous year.

Notably, in December 2022, founder Boris Bobrovnikov sold his controlling stake to senior managers within "Krok," after which Elena Volkovskaya was appointed as the new CEO, overseeing the company's strategic direction during this pivotal time.

Despite the law enforcement activity at its office, "Krok" remains operational and assertively seeks to maintain its status within the competitive IT industry. "All information resources and communication channels are available for project discussions," the company reiterated.

This ongoing situation has raised eyebrows in the tech community, with many awaiting further developments regarding the nature of the investigation and its potential implications for the company and its operations in the future.

As businesses and government entities increasingly depend on technology and digital solutions, the scrutiny on companies like "Krok" highlights the tension that exists within regulatory frameworks and the evolving digital landscape.
