Intensive search operations are currently underway for a 39-year-old man missing from Larissa, Greece, since December 30, 2024, after he failed to return from his routine walk.
According to local media, the missing man is the son of a judicial official, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert following his disappearance from his parents' home, where he was visiting for the holidays. The incident occurred when he left for his daily stroll and did not return. Since then, he has not been heard from.
The missing individual is described as having brown hair with baldness on the top, green eyes, and stands approximately 1.79 meters tall with a normal build. On the day of his disappearance, he was reportedly wearing a dark blue parka, dark-colored shirt, blue jeans, black athletic shoes, and sea-colored eyeglasses with plastic frames.
Search efforts have focused on the Pindus River area and its surroundings, mobilizing teams, including EMAK (Special Disaster Response Unit), which is working alongside trained dogs and drones to aid the search. Witness accounts are also pivotal to the investigation.
Gerasimos Kouroukls, the head of the Life Line organization, stated, "He went for his daily stroll and didn't come back," confirming the family's distress and the community's concern. He noted the importance of witness testimonies, saying, "We have received testimonies indicating he was seen shopping for calendars at a store."
Kouroukls also mentioned accounts from the local bookstore where he was reportedly seen, stating, "He was shopping for calendars, and the owner confirmed he was there on the day he disappeared, indicating he was of sound mind and appeared to be doing well."
The bookstore owner relayed to MEGA news, "There was no sign of distress at home. He was on holiday and seemed to be fine. He went for his walk and never returned." This adds to the unsettling nature of his disappearance.
Local authorities continue to express hope as the community rallies around the search. Kouroukls emphasized, "It's a strange story. We all want to believe he is okay, and I'm wishing for the best outcome. We do not want to believe he is lost to the river."
The search will persist, with responders determined to find the missing man and provide answers to his worried family and friends. Community involvement is high, and many are keeping hopes alive for his safe return.
