Sean Combs Faces New Sex Trafficking Allegations

Fashion designer accuses Diddy of assault and emotional distress, complicates his legal battle.

Sean Combs, famously known as Diddy, is currently embroiled in serious legal troubles as multiple allegations of sex trafficking and assault have surfaced against him, most recently through the filing of a lawsuit by fashion designer Bryana "Bana" Bongolan. Bongolan's 17-page lawsuit details her harrowing experiences with Combs, alleging she was subjected to sexual battery, false imprisonment, and emotional distress.

The incident at the core of Bongolan's allegations dates back to September 2016 when she claims Combs assaulted her during a visit to ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s apartment. Bongolan asserts she was groped by Combs and dangled over the balcony of the apartment, creating a terrifying situation where she feared for her life.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Bongolan recalls how Combs burst onto the balcony, grabbing her and subjecting her to unwanted sexual advances. The lawsuit states, "He grabbed her, turned her back to his chest, and molested her by groping her breasts as she yelled to be left alone." When she attempted to resist, Combs allegedly increased his intimidation, physically overpowering her.

Describing the assault, Bongolan argued she was “correct to fear” Combs, citing disturbing signs of abuse she observed during her professional relationship with the music mogul. The lawsuit reveals alarming accounts, including instances where Combs displayed violent behaviors, reportedly throwing kitchen knives during altercations with Ventura. Bongolan alleges this behavior contributed to her emotional distress, leading her to seek $10 million in damages.

This lawsuit is not the only legal challenge Combs faces. Recent updates to his federal indictment have indicated even more troubling allegations. Prosecutors have expanded their case to include two additional women, now identifying at least three female victims who Combs allegedly coerced and trafficked.

During the court proceedings, prosecutors suggested these women were drawn to Combs under false pretenses of romantic relationships, only to later endure sexual and physical exploitation. The updated indictment includes additional claims stretching the timeline of alleged offenses back to 2004, growing the scope of the investigation.

Marc Agnifilo, Combs' attorney, defended his client, stating, "The prosecution's theory remains flawed." Agnifilo condemned the prosecutors for labeling Combs’ former girlfriends as prostitutes, asserting they had consensual relationships with him. Yet, the prosecution maintains their allegations of sex trafficking involve intimidation, threats, and coercive tactics employed by Combs.

Combs’ legal issues also encompass accusations of violence, with reports of incidents where he physically harmed women and associates. Prosecutors portray Combs as leveraging his power and status as a hip-hop mogul to exert control over his victims. One alarming detail from the indictment describes Combs allegedly dangling one victim over the ledge of a balcony, mirroring Bongolan’s claims.

Agents compiling evidence have noted instances of Combs engaging directly with victims under menacing circumstances, including claims of drugging them during encounters. The alleged drugging and instances of violence have painted Combs as using his influence to manipulate those around him.

The case has drawn substantial media attention, especially as Combs has entered the next phase of legal proceedings. He remains incarcerated at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where he was denied bail multiple times following his September arrest. Observers note the stakes of his trial, set for May 5, highlight the urgency surrounding the mounting allegations.

While Combs continues to plead not guilty to all charges, the updated indictment suggests prosecutors are committed to ensuring all potential victims are heard before the court. The seriousness of the charges has led many to speculate about the potential repercussions on Combs’ illustrious career, which has faced challenges over accusations of misconduct previously.

With the trial looming, the pressure is mounting for both sides as publicity surrounding the case compels the music mogul to confront the scrutiny of his alleged actions. The allegations not only tarnish his public image but also spotlight broader issues of power dynamics and violence against women prevalent within high-profile circles.

Combs' fate now hangs precariously, as he must navigate through these serious allegations—faced with the realities of court proceedings, public opinion, and the potential fallout from his past relationships and professional dealings.
