Schools Overcome Post-Pandemic Absenteeism Crisis

Education leaders implement creative strategies to boost attendance and support student wellness after COVID-19 disruptions

The COVID-19 pandemic has forever altered the educational atmosphere across the United States, leaving many schools wrestling with the fallout from the switch to remote learning. With parental concerns and student engagement still at the forefront, schools have been tasked with reimagining how education functions.

Still, schools are encouraged by data showing slight improvements year-on-year. Although the numbers remain concerning, officials express hope as interventions have begun to yield positive results.

Community support groups and after-school programs are gaining traction, with many aimed at fostering social skills among students. Such initiatives are particularly beneficial for children struggling socially due to the pandemic's isolation periods.
