School Buses Canceled Across Simcoe County Due To Weather

Transportation officials caution against poor road conditions as schools remain open for students.

The Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium has announced this morning the cancellation of all school buses and vans across the entire Simcoe County area. This decision affects various zones, including:

  • North - Elmvale, Midland, Penetanguishene, and Orillia

  • West - Collingwood, Stayner & Wasaga Beach

  • Central - Barrie, Innisfil & Angus

  • South - Alliston, Beeton, Bradford, Cookstown & Tottenham

Despite this disruption, it’s important to note schools remain open for student learning. According to the Consortium, the cancellation stems from current poor road and visibility conditions, with forecasts indicating these adverse conditions are likely to continue throughout the school day.

"The weather has spoken! Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium has informed us of a school bus cancellation. All school buses and vans in Simcoe County have been cancelled due to current poor road and visibility conditions and the forecast for poor conditions to continue throughout the school day," reported Local Radio.

While students who can safely make their way to school are encouraged to do so, those who cannot should take the opportunity to enjoy the unexpected snow day. "Schools remain open for students who are able to make it there. Otherwise, enjoy the snow day! Drive safe!" emphasized the report from Local Radio.

This situation is reflective of winter weather challenges, where safety becomes the priority. Families should stay informed about potential impacts on student transportation and be prepared for similar announcements during the winter months.

For more details about school bus cancellations, residents are encouraged to visit the Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium website.

Meanwhile, the community is reminded to exercise caution on the roads and stay safe during these inclement weather conditions. It's always best to stay updated on forecasts and the status of local transportation options.
