Scheduled Power Outages Hit Tamil Nadu Next Week

TANGEDCO announces maintenance outages and local grievance meetings for impacted communities.

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced scheduled power outages throughout Tamil Nadu on February 12 and 13, 2025, as part of routine maintenance work. These planned disruptions will affect various neighborhoods, particularly around Chennai, with residents urged to take necessary precautions.

The first round of outages is set for February 12, when areas such as Teynampet, Thirumullaivoyal, and East Mogappair will experience power cuts from 9 AM to 2 PM. TANGEDCO officials noted, "Electricity supply will be restored earlier if maintenance is completed ahead of time." This proactive measure reflects the corporation's efforts to minimize inconvenience during maintenance.

A comprehensive list of affected regions includes specific streets and localities. For example, residents of Teynampet will encounter outages on Periyar Salai, Kamarajar Salai, and parts of Anna Salai, among others. Notably, the outages will extend to areas like Poes Garden and several sectors surrounding the city.

On February 13, additional locations including Santanur, G. M. Palayam, and surrounding regions will face full-day power interruptions as TANGEDCO undertakes necessary repairs and upgrades to their infrastructure. The public has been advised to prepare for potential disruptions and make alternative arrangements, particularly for sensitive equipment or health needs requiring consistent power.

Alongside these power outages, TANGEDCO has scheduled grievance redress meetings aimed at addressing consumer complaints directly. These meetings will take place at various Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) offices on February 12 and 19, 2025. Particularly on February 12, the Superintending Engineer of the Erode Electricity Distribution Circle will host discussions at the Office of Executive Engineer/Distribution/South/Erode division.

Consumers from localities like Solar, Ganapathipalayam, and others are encouraged to participate and voice their concerns about power supply issues. Similarly, on February 19, meetings will occur at the Office of Executive Engineer, Perundurai Division, for residents of Perundurai and its vicinity.

TANGEDCO's move to hold these grievance meetings demonstrates their commitment to transparency and consumer engagement. Residents are expected to actively participate, providing feedback and addressing specific power-related issues they have encountered.

"Consumers are advised to take necessary precautions," warned TANGEDCO, emphasizing the importance of awareness during these planned outages. By keeping lines of communication open, TANGEDCO aims to tackle issues efficiently and improve the overall power distribution experience for its customers.

With scheduled maintenance being necessary for long-term reliability, TANGEDCO's latest announcements aim to balance the need for service upgrades with the community's immediate needs. Consumers throughout Tamil Nadu are urged to stay informed and utilize the upcoming grievance meetings as platforms to express their concerns and suggest improvements.

This dual approach, combining planned outages with community engagement, exemplifies how utilities can work with residents to cultivate trust and satisfaction. TANGEDCO remains focused on delivering quality service and addressing the dynamic needs of its consumer base during these challenging transitions.

Overall, these developments highlight TANGEDCO's proactive measures to maintain infrastructure integrity, ensuring Tamil Nadu residents enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply both now and in the future.
