Samsung To Launch One UI 7 With Android 15 Next Week

The update introduces new AI features and design enhancements for Galaxy devices.

Samsung is set to roll out its much-anticipated Android 15-based One UI 7 update starting next week, specifically on April 7, 2025. This update promises to enhance user experience with several new features, particularly in the realm of generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI). The initial devices to receive this update will be the Galaxy S24 series, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

According to Samsung's official announcement, these flagship devices will be the first to experience the new software, with the rollout commencing on April 7. Following that, users of older models such as the Galaxy S23, S22, and S21 series—including all standard, Plus, and Ultra models—can expect to receive the update shortly thereafter. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 FE and S21 FE will also benefit from this upgrade.

Samsung's foldable devices are not being overlooked either; the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 are all included in the update plan. For tablet users, the Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9, and Tab S8 series will receive the update as well, with the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+ models also on the list.

While the excitement builds, there is still no official word regarding when mid-range and budget devices will receive the update. However, the new features and improvements included in One UI 7 are drawing significant attention.

One of the standout features of One UI 7 is its design and user interface improvements. Users can expect a new pill-shaped UI on the lock screen for easy access to music, timers, and navigation. The update will also introduce more recognizable stock app icons and enhanced customization options for widgets, providing a more modern look. The camera UI has been revamped for a cleaner layout, making it easier to control zoom functions, and new charging animations will feature a green progress bar to indicate charging status. Additionally, users will enjoy smoother animations and faster, fluid app transitions.

In terms of customization, One UI 7 will allow users to scroll through their app drawer vertically, providing a fresh approach to app organization. The lock screen will offer more clock styles, font options, and customizable widgets, while quick settings can be accessed by swiping from the top-left for notifications and the top-right for quick settings.

Samsung is also enhancing its Galaxy AI features with One UI 7. The new Writing Assist feature will provide AI-powered text enhancement across the UI, while Call Transcriptions will convert recorded calls into text in 20 languages. The Now Brief feature will display AI-generated relevant information based on user habits, and the Audio & Object Eraser will allow users to remove unwanted sounds and objects from videos.

Samsung's One UI 7 beta program has already begun for the Galaxy S24 series, having started in early December 2024. The beta program has expanded to include the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, S23 series, and Tab S10 series. So far, Samsung has released six beta builds for the Galaxy S24 series, allowing users to test the new features prior to the stable release.

For users in the United States, the update will be available starting April 10, 2025, with a staggered rollout timeline for other regions. Following the initial rollout for the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S24 FE, S23 series, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 are expected to receive the update on April 17, 2025. Late April will see the rollout extend to the Galaxy S22 series and continued updates for the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.

Tablet users will not be left behind, with the Galaxy Tab S10 set to receive the update in mid-April, while the Tab S9 and Tab S8 series will follow later in the month. Other tablets are expected to receive the update in May 2025.

Samsung’s commitment to its software updates is evident, as the company has confirmed the cancellation of One UI 7.1, which was originally planned for release alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Instead, the upcoming foldable phones are anticipated to launch with One UI 7.0.1.

As the rollout approaches, Samsung is encouraging users to back up their important data to avoid any potential loss during the update process. The One UI 7.0 software update is expected to be released in batches, which means the availability may vary based on country and region.

Samsung's One UI 7 represents one of the most significant software evolutions in the company's history, developed over two years to enhance user experience. The update aims to address previous criticisms regarding user experience, focusing on smoothness, interactions, and visibility. For instance, the animation triggers as soon as users touch the display, improving response rates and simplifying interactions, such as the new camera app's minimalistic UI.

With just days to go until the official rollout, Samsung users are eagerly anticipating the improvements and features that One UI 7 will bring. As the company continues to innovate and refine its software, users can look forward to a more enjoyable and efficient experience on their Galaxy devices.
