Samsung Launches One UI 7 Update For Galaxy S24 Series

The new update features AI tools, design enhancements, and more for Galaxy users.

On April 7, 2025, Samsung began rolling out its highly anticipated One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series, which includes the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. This update, based on Android 15, introduces a host of new features, enhanced AI capabilities, and a refreshed user interface. The rollout marks a significant milestone as it is the first major operating system update for the S24 lineup, which is expected to receive software support for seven years.

The One UI 7 update was first unveiled alongside the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in February 2025. Following a beta release that allowed some users to test the new features in March, Samsung is now making the stable version available to a broader audience. The update is being deployed in phases and will be compatible with both Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400-powered models. Samsung anticipates completing the rollout within the next few weeks.

In addition to the Galaxy S24 series, the One UI 7 update will also extend to a variety of older Galaxy models. Samsung has confirmed that devices such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series, and Galaxy Tab S9 series will receive the update soon. However, mid-range models from the Galaxy A, M, and F series will have to wait a little longer, with no specific timeline provided for their updates.

One of the standout features of One UI 7 is its emphasis on artificial intelligence. The update introduces smart writing tools that allow users to summarize lengthy notes, check grammar and spelling, and convert long passages into bullet points. Additionally, a new call transcription feature supports 20 languages, including English (India) and Hindi, making it a versatile tool for multilingual users.

Another innovative addition is the Audio Eraser feature, which enables users to remove background noise from videos, enhancing the overall audio quality. Moreover, users can enable automatic call recording and transcription, allowing for easy reference of important conversations.

Samsung has also improved the integration of Google Gemini within One UI 7, enabling users to issue voice commands for various tasks. However, it is important to note that not all AI features may be available on older devices, as some advanced capabilities are likely limited to newer models.

Visually, One UI 7 brings a cleaner and more responsive interface, featuring refreshed animations, redesigned app icons, and faster app launch times. The home screen and lock screen have undergone significant redesigns, offering users more customization options. The camera application has also been revamped, with clearer control placements and enhanced features for pro video modes, including a new zoom tool for finer adjustments.

Samsung has introduced a feature called the “Now Bar,” which is reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island. This tool allows users to access frequently used applications such as music controls and stopwatch functions directly from the lock screen without needing to unlock the device. Such enhancements aim to provide a more fluid and user-friendly experience.

Despite the exciting new features, some users have expressed frustration over the delayed rollout of the One UI 7 update. Many were hoping for a quicker release, especially given that other brands like OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi had already rolled out Android 15 updates back in December 2024. This delay has raised concerns about Samsung's commitment to its promise of seven years of OS updates for recent models.

As the update begins to reach users, it is crucial for them to ensure their devices are prepared for the installation. Users are advised to check their battery levels and back up their data before proceeding. To download the new One UI 7 update, they can navigate to the Settings menu, select Software Update, and then tap Download and Install. Once the update is available, users can initiate the installation process, which will require the device to reboot to implement the changes.

Overall, the One UI 7 update represents a significant leap forward for Samsung's Galaxy devices, bringing with it a range of new features and improvements designed to enhance user experience. As Samsung continues to roll out this update, users can look forward to a more personalized and efficient smartphone experience.
