Samsung Launches New Galaxy A Series Smartphones

The Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 offer enhanced features and six years of support.

Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled its latest line of midrange smartphones, the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G, just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025. These new devices are not only equipped with impressive displays and powerful processors, but they also introduce innovative AI capabilities aimed at enhancing user experience.

The Galaxy A series marks Samsung's commitment to providing high-quality smartphones at accessible prices, ensuring consumers have access to technology without compromising on features. The new models boast 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED screens, with refresh rates of up to 120Hz. They also support Samsung's customized One UI 7 interface built on Android 15, promising updates for OS and security for the next six years.

Samsung has emphasized the durability and functionality of these smartphones, achieving IP67 ratings for water and dust resistance. This means they can be submerged for up to one meter underwater for 30 minutes, making them highly practical for everyday use.

Starting with the flagship, the Galaxy A56 5G is powered by the Exynos 1580 processor complemented by the AMD Xclipse 540 GPU, making it ideal for gaming and multitasking. Customers can choose from several configurations: 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. For photography enthusiasts, the A56 features a powerful camera setup, including a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization, complemented by 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro lenses. The device’s 12MP front camera caters to selfie lovers, boasting high-quality images.

The A56 will be available for $499 for the 8GB/128GB version, going up to $549 for the 8GB/256GB model. It will be offered in several attractive colors including Awesome Light Gray, Graphite, Olive, and Pink.

Next is the Galaxy A36, which balances performance and affordability. It runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor with Adreno 710 GPU. This model also includes up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with its pricing set at $399 for the 6GB/128GB version and $415 for the 8GB/256GB configuration. The camera system mirrors the A56, sporting the same primary sensor but with different secondary lenses: 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro. Color varieties include Awesome Lavender, Black, White, and Lime.

Finally, the Galaxy A26 is the most budget-friendly option, starting at $299 for the 6GB/128GB version and going up to $375 for the 8GB/256GB variant. It is powered by the Exynos 1380 processor and includes similar camera features as the A56 and A36 but is differentiated by its side-mounted fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm headphone jack. Users will find this model appealing for its affordability without sacrificing key features.

“The new Galaxy A series marks an important step in our mission of AI for all, by opening Galaxy’s incredible mobile AI experiences to even more people around the world,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. This dedication to integrating artificial intelligence tools continues with enhancements like Circle to Search, which allows users to easily identify songs and grab information directly from their screens.

Samsung's new AI features don't stop there. The Galaxy A series also introduces Smart Camera tools such as Object Eraser and Best Face, which help users edit their photos by removing distractions or choosing the best expressions from multiple shots.

Durability is another key selling point, as all models include Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, which enhances the phone’s resistance against scratches and impacts. Samsung promises long-lasting performance powered by 5,000mAh batteries, with the A56 and A36 supporting up to 45W fast charging, significantly reducing downtime for users who are constantly on-the-go.

Given the increasing competition, especially with Apple's recent iPhone 16E release, Samsung's pricing strategy continues to position the Galaxy A series as not only feature-rich but also as more affordable alternatives for consumers seeking midrange smartphones.

These models are expected to be available starting March 26 for the Galaxy A36 and March 28 for the Galaxy A26, with announcements for specific markets around the world coming shortly after, including significant updates on pricing and availability for the Indian market.

Samsung's commitment to its customers remains strong with the promise of significant software longevity and security features like Samsung Knox Vault, which provide additional layers of security against potential threats. With the Galaxy A series, Samsung not only embraces current technological innovations but also aims to secure user data and maintain device longevity through consistent updates.

Overall, Samsung is gearing up to meet the demands of its users with these latest offerings, reinforcing its reputation as one of the leading smartphone manufacturers dedicated to merging innovation with affordability.
