Samsung Launches Exciting New Wearables And Phones

Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and more tech innovations were unveiled at Samsung's Unpacked event

The latest releases from Samsung have stirred excitement among tech enthusiasts. During the recent Unpacked event held in Paris, the company unveiled several innovative products, excluding the much-anticipated Galaxy S25, which will debut next year.

This year's highlight is the brand new Samsung Galaxy Ring, positioned as Samsung's answer to existing smart rings like the Oura. The ring, crafted from titanium and boasting 100m water resistance, weighs just 3 grams and offers battery life of up to one week on a single charge.

The Galaxy Ring imitates features of traditional fitness trackers, featuring heart-rate and temperature sensors as well as motion sensors. While it lacks GPS for precise location tracking, it still tracks sleep patterns and provides energy level estimates, alongside period tracking for users.

Price-wise, it’s on the premium side, retailing at £399, but for those who value functionality and tech sophistication, it’s definitely appealing.

Shifting focus to Samsung’s flagship foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 received notable updates. The Z Flip 6 maintains its distinctive clamshell design, whereas the Z Fold 6 opens like a book, both now powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

These devices are more rugged than their predecessors, featuring enhanced water resistance, but they come with peculiar ingress ratings of IP48, meaning they're great for underwater use but not dustproof. With brighter screens capable of reaching up to 2,600 nits, the visual experience also gets upgraded, albeit at increased prices; the Z Fold 6 starts at £1,799 and the Z Flip 6 at £1,049.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra joins the smartwatch lineup as Samsung's response to premium smartwatches like the Apple Watch Ultra. This premium model is priced at £599, featuring a slightly rectangular casing with water resistance rated at 10ATM.

Battery life for the Galaxy Watch Ultra is extended, reaching up to 100 hours, and interestingly includes mobile internet connectivity (LTE) as standard. If you're seeking something more affordable, the Galaxy Watch 7 starts at £289 for the smaller version.

Samsung also continues its commitment to health tracking with these watches, which utilize Samsung’s BioActive Sensor to monitor heart rates, body fat percentage, ECG readings, and blood pressure. The larger watch has 47mm dimensions and is encased in titanium, providing both durability and elegance.

The new Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro are part of Samsung's audio update, showcasing a design reminiscent of Apple's AirPods. Despite the similar appearance, the Buds 3 Pro promises significantly improved sound quality, owing to its dual-driver setup, perfect for audiophiles.

Both models have active noise cancellation features; the Buds 3 Pro detect external noises like conversation and alarms, adjusting ANC accordingly. If battery life is important to you, the Buds 3 Pro last for up to seven hours, whereas the regular Buds 3 offer slightly less.

The pricing reflects their premium quality, with the Buds 3 Pro available for £219 and the standard Buds 3 for £159. Overall, Samsung’s recent launches highlight both innovation and their drive to capture the wearables market, making significant upgrades across the whole product range.

The Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 7, and the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro reflect Samsung’s strategic response to current tech trends. This diverse lineup is set to bolster Samsung’s presence across various electronic markets as it moves to meet evolving consumer demands.

With all these new products, Samsung seems to be positioning itself not just as a mobile phone manufacturer, but as a holistic tech ecosystem provider. Current users and potential buyers have plenty to anticipate as more leaks about their features become available leading up to their release dates.
