On April 18, 2025, Samsung Vietnam, in collaboration with the Tourism Information Center, launched a content creation contest titled "Galaxy AI understands Vietnamese, honoring Vietnamese tourism." The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam and will run from April 18 to May 18, 2025. With a total prize pool of up to 300 million VND, this initiative aims to not only foster creativity but also instill a sense of national pride and a love for the homeland, while promoting domestic tourism through the lens of Galaxy AI technology.
During the launch event, Mr. Lê Xuân Trường, Director of Marketing and Communication for Mobile Experience at Samsung Vietnam, highlighted the company's commitment to integrating Vietnamese into the Galaxy AI platform. He noted that in 2024, Vietnamese was researched and incorporated into Galaxy AI, becoming one of the thirteen languages supported. This year, Samsung continues to enhance the ability of Galaxy AI to understand Vietnamese, especially with the Galaxy S25 Series, aiming to provide a more meaningful and useful experience for Vietnamese users.
Mr. Trường emphasized, "With Galaxy AI technology, users have new tools to create and spread the cultural values and natural beauty of Vietnam to friends both domestically and internationally." This initiative is seen as an effort to inspire tourists, particularly tech-savvy youth, to engage with Vietnam's rich cultural heritage.
In a related development, just a day earlier, on April 17, 2025, Nhan Dan Newspaper announced the launch of the project "I Love Vietnam," which combines wireless connection technology (NFC) and digital data to promote the country's image and tourism. This project coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of Vietnam, commemorating significant historical events.
In partnership with Phygital Labs, Nhan Dan Newspaper has installed nearly 200 free NFC-chip boards at famous landmarks across more than 60 provinces and cities. These boards allow tourists to access a wealth of information and experiences simply by tapping their phones, creating a unique exploration experience.
From the iconic Lũng Cú Flagpole to the southernmost point at Cà Mau, tourists can unlock a digital space filled with features such as AI-guided tours that provide historical context and personalized itineraries. The website www.yeulamvietnam.vn has been designed with a modern interface that is easy to navigate, available in both Vietnamese and English, enabling tourists to access official information about various landmarks.
After more than four months of implementation, the project has recorded tens of thousands of successful check-ins, showcasing the popularity of this innovative approach to tourism. The NFC boards have been installed at significant sites, including Lũng Cú Flagpole in Hà Giang and the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, allowing visitors to engage with the history and culture of these locations in a modern way.
Mr. Lê Quốc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, shared that the idea for the "I Love Vietnam" program was conceived around October 2024, aiming to promote tourism uniquely in light of the upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations. With the support of local leaders and the dedication of Nhan Dan's reporters, the project has successfully installed check-in points in nearly every province, averaging three per region.
He expressed enthusiasm about the potential for the program to attract more participation, stating, "We have a strong media presence and a capable technology partner, so I believe that as the program gains interest, more people will check in at tourist sites. We hope to collaborate with more businesses to expand the network of check-ins across regions, creating substantial tourism benefits that extend beyond short-term gains to long-term advantages for the tourism sector."
In addition to the benefits for tourists, the project opens up new possibilities for local services, commerce, and cultural data, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic growth in the tourism sector. The integration of real-time travel data analytics into the platform aims to assist in destination management and optimize visitor interactions.
Ms. Phan Linh Chi, Deputy Director of the National Tourism Administration, remarked that the "I Love Vietnam" project harmoniously blends traditional values with modern technology. She stated, "I believe that these small yet smart NFC boards will become 'digital guides' that bring tourists closer to our history and culture—not just through sight and sound, but through the heart."
As Vietnam prepares to celebrate 50 years since the reunification, the integration of technology into the tourism experience is seen as a vital step in connecting citizens and tourists alike to the country's rich heritage. Both the Galaxy AI contest and the NFC project reflect a commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the appreciation of Vietnam's cultural and historical treasures.
Through these initiatives, Samsung and Nhan Dan Newspaper aim to not only boost local tourism but also foster a community of digital explorers, where every citizen can become a "tourism ambassador" by participating in various activities, earning rewards, and sharing their experiences on social media with the hashtag #YeuLamVietNam. This innovative approach to tourism is expected to resonate with younger generations, encouraging them to engage with their cultural heritage in a meaningful way.
As the nation moves forward, these projects highlight the importance of collaboration between technology and tourism, paving the way for a smarter, more connected future for Vietnam's travel industry.
